Good news if true - the repair workers who have been in our building to fix the HVAC and wear buffs around their necks but not actually over their face as they stroll past the “masks must be worn at all times in this area” sign are actually doing us a favor.

Did you know that public libraries *cannot* buy Audible exclusive audiobooks? Amazon won’t sell them to public libraries. I’ve found most people don’t actually know this. If you care about books in any capacity, a move away from Amazon is good for all of us.

To follow up to my other comment, I’ve listened to John Sargent (the CEOfrom Macmillan) argue for his embargo plan in person, and he seems to genuinely believe that every library-borrowed book is a lost purchase, which just isn’t true. He had a fundamental lack of understanding that not every person can set aside

It is! They offset that by having titles that “expire” and have to be repurchased, and charge $60 for it. As a librarian, I think the distance between these two realities needs to be shortened a little, so we can coexists successfully. Have it expire after two years, but only charge twice the list price for the title.

Ok but what about those diner trips after you’ve been like discussing end of life options for someone you love and you’re just trying not to be at the hospital for a while but you can’t go home yet? =[

What’s the collective thought on managing drips caused by crying rather than a cold? Obviously you can still throw the tissues out yourself but there are a lot of “why would you blow your nose at the table at all” comments and I’ve had to have some tough conversations that need to be finished without dashing to the

Seriously not playing gotcha here - what if you’re crying? And what if you need to finish the conversation that’s making you cry?

YES this sounds great! I have the same feelings about tamagoyaki. I used to make egg bites with a sous vide using small Ball jam jars — do you think that would work for this as well or is the thin wall of the bag a component here?

Yeees! I’m going to Chicago over the summer and this place is going on my list!

So excited to try this. We make a crab meat dip that’s like a cousin to this recipe that my friends blackmail me to make and I’ll share the recipe because I love you all.

This is a really good point!! I want to play with the rhetoric of it, but I’m not disagreeing with it at all. Let’s state that as you said, support for LGBT+ rights isn’t political in theory, but in America is political in practice because parties have taken opposite sides. Can we also then say that while support for

I understand the sentiment behind what you’re saying, I really do. But when I read things like “this could have just been avoided by not bringing these types of things onto a platform where it needn’t have had to be mentioned” the world seems a little bleaker. Chung Ng Wai is FROM Hong Kong. This isn’t someone

Furthermore, slavery existed in America because it existed in Europe first and crossed the ocean with it. Africa is still reeling from the effects of European colonialism.

And black cherry is still the flavor to beat!

I’ve always liked seltzer but I’ve been drinking more of it since we moved to a new apartment where the water has an almost garlicky taste?? You can smell it when it’s ice cubes and it makes you think your glass is dirty. The smell/taste filters out with a Brita, but I can’t help but be paranoid that the smell means

Look. I’m very much scared of what’s happening to our planet and encourage constructive discussion. But this article, as are so many others, is needlessly repetitive and hyperbolic. Look at this sentence:

Nearly everyone in this comment thread is a Certified Terrible Person. It’s just depressing. People are like “we’d have to learn something and change!!!!” “It would be hard!!!” “it will cost some money!!!”  I’m so angry right now. The world can really be a bleak place. No one cries quite like this when Apple updates

The takes on this article are nauseating. People are talking about website redesign like architectural redesign, like it’s as difficult/expensive/disruptive as rebuilding a building. I’m reading things about “training for staff” required to make websites accessible. What do you think making a page readable by a

Hey it’s us! Jokes!! THIS IS FINE!!!!
