can't believe they lazied out with the modern setting in Unity... I don't like that they are going away from a modern storyline, that mix was the main draw for me.

there are some games which in my opinion take too long to come to the point.

thing is, when the game was released in 1996 originally, the Playstation controllers did not feature the analogue sticks yet and the main source of movement input were the directional buttons. The directional tank like movement back then made sense with that.
