Well, that would certainly help with both driver fatalities and commute times, wouldn’t it?

“Which would be a problem as the majority of the US is completely devoid of quality public transport.”
“If the US went to proper driver training and held people accountable, probably 75% or more of the population wouldn’t be able to drive.”
but what exactly happened that cause the pedestrians to get hit in the first place?
I wanna drive 90 mph without my seatbelt watching Fox News on my phone while eating my freedom fries and gravy and nothing you do will stop me from doing it !!!
But what is the actual issue here? I get that increasing the speed with mass will increase the chance of a fatal outcome, that should already be a given. But I don’t think brakes and maneuverability become greatly diminished by 5mph increments (going from 25-30). Those statistic just show the faster you went when you…
and most of the drivers are on the same page as well over there. Many American drivers instantly B-line to the left lanes and go super slow or 65...which is the actual speed limit, but you’ll get shot...by police officers for going that slow in California, so the real speed limit is 80mph. American drivers have too…
Higher speed limits can be perfectly safe... IF it’s paired with good driver training and regular driver retraining as is done in places like Germany.
Relying on unregulated private car ownership as the dominant form of transportation is dangerous and unhealthy to the public.
But, we don’t make laws based on “well, some assholes are gonna ignore it anyway so why bother.”
There’s always going to be some idiot who drives down my street at 60 miles an hour. But getting everyone else to slow down a little makes a difference in a neighborhood full of kids.
Too many people think they’re above the laws of Physics. They ain’t.
Great, more unnecessarily fast SUVs. Can’t get a wagon, but if you want a 500+ HP SUV, your cup runneth over. Wonderful world we live in.
Notice how they phrase it though, it’s the fastest car *from the N division*. Although, as best as I can tell (or be bothered to check), the fastest Hyundai in general is the Genesis coupe (certain specs good for 162 mph, so Hyundai not finding another 2 mph just seems lazy).
That power increase means that the new car hit 62 mph from zero in just 3.4 seconds, and is capable of a top speed of 161 mph
So I’m NOT the only one who experiences this. I have felt like I’m in an episode of Twilight Zone every time I have mentioned exactly what you’re saying and people look at me like I’m deluded. Any sort of poor driving: Toyota/Lexus (or Honda CR-V) is leading the charge.
$12.5 k and you can’t fix the gas gauge?
SUVs in general.
Lifted trucks that are used mainly on-road. I hate all of them.
Suburbans and F-150s. They represent so much American insecurity.
Any Toyota Camry. I know they’re hugely popular but whenever I see one I think that the driver views their vehicle as nothing more than an appliance, and I hate that. No, it’s not rational.
