The Edsel. It is the first car I can think of that encompassed two pieces of body panel (quarter & truck) with the look of one lens. Very popular now, but in the 50's, they were mostly vertical, or sometimes weirdly, in the bumper.

Loved the 90's era Trofeo variety as well. Simple and elegant.

BMW, for their invisible turn signals.

Late 60's Mercury Cougar with those sweet sequential turn signals that are now commonplace on mustangs:

Ugh. These are all offensive with the exception of the van.

Agree with them all, only adding that while there’s a lack of choice with exterior colors, it’s the same inside.

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic, but I actually love the look. I have for well over 20 years since I started getting into cars. I don’t do it because it looks tough, wealthy (really?) or to follow a trend. I enjoy it because I like the way it looks.

No!! Black on Black on Black isn’t cool? This is very disappointing for me. I love that aesthetic so much and I’m a tool now... Well I suppose I was always a tool, but now I know it which makes it icky.

May work well but those tesla 3 single screens looks SO cheap. (This article is on “design” after all.) Telsa 3 is THE definition of lazily slapping a big screen in front of you. (Except its not even actually in front of you since it’s a cost saving measure that’s actually the infotainment screen.)

Well done, everyone, fantastic list.  A shame that anyone with any pull in the auto industry either won’t see it, or will ignore it completely.

The thing about most touch screens in cars is that they aren’t nearly as sensitive as they would need to be to be really effective. In every touch screen car I have (which granted, were not Teslas) I frequently have to jab a spot repeatedly to make sure it “takes” or that I’m hitting the correct area.

The entire subaru community gave a gigantic collective “WTF?” When the 22 wrx was revealed. Granted.. we tend to do that for EVERY release of it, but really? Plastic cladding? Is this a fucking crosstrek?

Truck “design” has gotten world-class stupid lately. It is the reason used and classic truck values keep climbing.

Damn I wish manufacturers would skip their next design focus group and use this list.

None of these would be ‘satisfying’ for me to own because they are all too big for my purposes and burn way too much fuel.

Based on the hate that Acura products get from enthusiasts, you wouldn’t think the MDX would be on this list.

I feel like this angle is the misleading one and the camera is very near or at the roof. There is nearly no way that in a normal seating position you will see over the center screen at this steep of an angle

Especially in trucks - a hybrid would be awesome. I’d be thrilled with 50miles or EV range for city driving, with a small diesel back up that kicks in during towing and/or a range extender. Like a Volt - but capable of towing 5000lbs further than 100miles without stopping for a 45min recharge.

1st Gear: They’d better get those cheaper EVs underway, and probably figure out how to either make more energy-dense Lithium batteries or cheaper non-Lithium batteries for them.

I bought a Ram EcoDiesel 11 months ago and the Tundra/Sequoia is a vehicle I cross-shopped. I had 3 reasons not to choose the Toyota:
