When I first saw his tweets, I didn’t immediately think he was the NYT reporter who just had their article preempted.

You do realize that he did nothing at all like you’re claiming, right? He tweeted about how stunned he was that Don Jr. put out what he had spent months trying to find. You invented a narrative for him, then used an interview that shows your narrative is wrong to claim that proves he’s full of shit?

The guy was pretty clear on his twitter that he has no affiliation with NYT or the article that was written. The deadspin article is simply from someone who didn’t take any time to look at the guys twitter which would have answered any questions in seconds. Pretty terrible on your part, DeadSpin.

To be fair, in the middle of all this he did tweet several times that he did not work for the NYT. I never even got the impression he thought he was about to take anyone down.
