Wait, it’s literally just called the Z? Like every previous Z-car, but without a number to differentiate it?

I like this car. My only problem with it is that everyone who sees one and doesn’t already know what it is (which is 99% of people, including several I’ve had this exact conversation with) thinks it’s “the new Bronco”, and is disappointed with how small and non-offroady it is. They then lose interest in Broncos before

Andy Dwyer is the only role that Chris Pratt was good in. I will die on this hill.

Now playing

I like the theory that Passengers is actually a horror movie. Pratt’s character (whose name I can’t be bothered to remember) is the villain, obviously. The movie, as released, is told out of order, and the ending is wrong, but with a few minor edits, it could have been really good. Their mistake was trying to force an

Piping hot take: this is one of very few modern BMWs that isn’t hideous. It’s not exactly pretty, but it’s not unpleasant to look at. The grille nostrils haven’t taken over the entire face. It looks like something from ten years ago, in a good way.

Can confirm, the Leaf is a great first car. I was one of the first students in our little hippie town to have an EV, and while it got me a lot of flak from the backwards-hat dude-bro crowd, it was faster than any of their fart-canned Scions.

I squeeze the toothpaste down in between the bristles so it gets gradually dispensed throughout my mouth as I brush. It distributes it more evenly and prevents me from inadvertently swallowing most of it at the beginning.

When I was a kid, we also had a cat who loved to eat flies. Unfortunately, he was extremely cross-eyed and not too bright, so his efforts to actually catch flies were rarely successful. On the rare occasion when he did catch one, though, he was the happiest cat in the world.

My first thought upon hearing the narration, and realizing that this was going to be a mafia movie parody, was “oh, they’re doing the Community fried chicken episode again”.

I love these! When I was a kid, my parents had a ‘99 SW2. One time we went to a Saturn dealer to have it serviced, and I got a 1:18 diecast version of the 3-door coupe (which, if I still had it, would be worth a decent wad on eBay). Ever since then, some part of me has been convinced that the Saturn 3-door coupe is

I’ve long been of the opinion that Saturn should return as a low-budget EV brand, with basic, no-frills electric commuter cars. No touchscreens, no self-driving, just a simple automobile that happens to be electric, with prices starting well under 20k. I think they would sell like hotcakes.

Totally unrelated but not really: I discovered while working on model trains that superglue fumes leave a white fog on clear plastic. I also discovered that applying a clear coat over it will make it disappear. The white is actually tiny “snowflakes” of dried super glue, and they’re clear - they just appear white

I’ve heard stories of lipo fires as well (not quite that bad though). I actually got rid of all my lipos and went back to NiMH a couple of years ago. Speed is fun, but avoiding fires is more fun. I do own a couple of small lipos now for drones and helicopters, but I’m sticking with NiMH for my bigger cars, just in

This has happened with Tesla numerous times, but Elon won’t issue a recall because he’s too proud to admit his cars have issues (even though everyone knows they do). Teslas catch fire far more often than any other EV, but the Tesla fans are always curiously quiet about it.

I work at a hobby shop and sell R/C cars. There’s definitely still a market for NiMH batteries, and I usually recommend them for beginners in the hobby (especially kids), purely because of the safety factor (and also because they’re less finicky about charging). Lipo is the name of the game these days, but a lot of

The Leaf is definitely a good option. Mine is a 2012, and while I won’t pretend that the range loss hasn’t been a problem, it hasn’t caught fire, so that’s good. Assuming they’ve fixed the range loss issue on the newer ones, it does seem to be one of the better options on the market right now. I test drove a 2018 and

I’m wondering how the actual likelihood of a Bolt spontaneously combusting compares to the likelihood of the average gas car spontaneously combusting.

It’s just been done So. Many. Times. In any vaguely space-related context, 2001 is the most irritatingly obvious thing to reference. Yes, we get it. You’re making a thing about space and you’re referencing a famous movie about space that had the word “space” in the title. That movie came out 52 years ago. Referencing

Eh, Branson is fine. Not that I care in the slightest, but I guess I’m sort of glad he gets the title of the first billionaire in space. Of all the billionaires, he seems to be one of the least awful ones.

It runs all the accessory systems like the radio, lights, navigation, gauges, etc. It’s charged by the big battery through a voltage converter. Theoretically, you could build an EV without it and just run all the extra bits directly from the converter, but having a separate battery avoids a lot of complications.
