Exactly. I've seen Harbor Freight run $90 specials on their $139 desk drill press - that's how I got mine - but you can, as you say, pick 'em up on CL for the price of the parts here. And they work really, really well.

Not to deter anyone who has that PVC urge (I hate the stuff myself), but I routinely see benchtop drill presses on craigslist in my area listed for $50, which means you could probably pick one up for $30-$40. He may have that much in that thing in PVC elbows alone. Besides, buying an old craftsman gets you a 1/3HP
