Don’t be silly. For a first world country, America deals with a tremendous amount of real crime. We need standing police forces, and they need to be armed.

the disgrace was the families suing in the first place. Just because a few people on comment boards and social media feel bad doesn’t mean you can do whatever the fuck you want legally. They hired ambulance chasing lawyers, turned down a hefty generous settlement offer, and then lost on it. PR? Fuck that. Don’t file…
I never said I want her to take off the hijab. I’m merely saying that she, along with all women on this earth, should be able to choose without fear of being on the wrong side of a culture that will berate and ostracize them (best case scenario) and kill them outright (worst case scenario). How will they handle a child that is completely different from bio mom if that happens? Is there an extended family or…
I don’t think it’s the “relative surrogate” thing that people are weirded out by; it’s the fact that the daughter is dead and may not actually have consented to or wanted this at all.
For me, it’s more that it’s without clear consent from the daughter. Yes, I would think it was slightly weird for a daughter to ask a mom to be a surrogate simply because of the age issue, but this woman is dead and there’s no explicit proof that this is what she wanted. It feels more like the mom wanting a grandchild…
Of being a member of society is to not be a giant douche-canoe.
My best friend and college roommate for three years is a conservative, and was a member of the college Republicans. He was (and is) an exemplary conservative and one whom I wish the party was full of.
