Ex-Houstonian here.... give it more chances!!!! It is suuuuuuuch a cool city... just stupid hot and humid. For a lot of the year. But the excellent food and diversity is the best. I miss my Houston :( I moved there and disliked it for a few years. It really really grew on me.
Am I the only person who had to read like every sentence two or three times in this post? Wth is going on here o_O
Dental school student here.... This surgery is ABSOLUTELY not just for aesthetic purposes, but can really, really affect your quality of life. A misaligned jaw can put pressure in the wrong places, leading to pain, TMJ etc etc. Tooth crowding and crooked teeth can greatly increase your risk of caries (cavitites). The…
I do the knock on wood thing too... I'm pretty sure its a manifestation of slight OCD/an anxiety issue. Why do people with OCD knock on the door handle 17 times before entering? It makes them anxious not to. Why do I ALWAYS knock on wood and why do I ALWAYS tell my bf to have a safe drive even when he's just going to…
I dunno, all the crazy stuff that people believe that really "works" is just psychology. Placebo effect, confirmation bias, slight OCD, etc. Person with the crystals - placebo. Mercury being in retrograde and bringing good/bad things - confirmation bias. Me truly believing that if I don't knock on wood all of the bad…
I'm digging Callie writing Dirt Bag! Slightly more subtle humor.
Wut.
CA transplant in TX....man the way this state does some things just blows my mind lol. Mums are truly bizarre.
I agree with @jenifermariemcgee.... at my school it was definitely the most "liked" person which was not necessarily the prettiest person. I think my hs was maybe unique though, in that we had "cliques" to some degree, but most everyone got along and was friends. The "popular girls" were also smart girls who went to…
Yeah, the periodontists office I worked in would occasionally have a situation where the Dr would go to do one surgery and see something that needed to be dealt with immediately, while the pt was under sedation. In those cases the person there to take the person home (spouse, child, sibling, friend) would give consent…
I'm in dental school and the though of a car crash or something that hurts my hands TERRIFIES ME.
She is, indeed, boss. She also smuggled info past the Nazis for the resistance when she was like 16. She has some seriously legit stories!
I actually think countries with little diversity can end up being more open... When my grandma came over from Denmark (late 40's/early 50's) she hadn't ever seen a brown/black person and so didn't know she wasn't supposed to like them. Sat on the wrong part of the bus and caused a whole hullabaloo because she refused…
I agree! Very interesting! I grew up in SoCal but my dad grew up in Kansas... and I say "dang it." I wonder if my friends from home say "dang." I never paid attention. Actually I guess he says "dagnabbit..." I wonder where that comes from.
Serious contention with my bf - I think tucking leads to foot freedom... your feet can go back and forth the entire length of the bed without getting caught up in untucked sheets! Feet moving everywhere! He claims untucked means more foot freedom. We compromised with a duvet, but man its just not the same as some nice…
I really never thought it was such a big deal to recline, let alone rude O_o The person in front of me reclines - I recline. Even my dad who's 6'4" has never complained, he just buys an aisle seat and sticks his knees out. I thought it was just generally accepted that those seats suck and everyone reclines D:
