You still have functional doors: just pull the manual release. You can't use the electronic releases because the firmware may be updating the module either inside the doors or the computer that interfaces with the door switches. While updating you typically don't want the user to be messing with it.
“Following the instructions in the owners manual is “not how this works”? lol”
Answer to #1 is you set the schedule for the update. By default it is 2am at night, so the Tiktokers must have deliberately chose to do it at this time. Also when you start an update, there is a 2 minute countdown timer and it warns you that can’t use the doors or anything in the car while it is updating.
To be fair it did have a emergency release; she was to dumb to use
If you chose to start the update while sitting in the car, you sat there for two minutes and waited for the ‘get ready’ timer to run out, and then cried about being stuck in the car for the duration of an update..? Come on.
I’m with both of you.
I get not wanting to damage your vehicle, but at the end of the day, if you’re dead, it really doesn’t matter if you’re vehicle is borked or not.
C’mon, Logan.
but this seems like a very dangerous oversight on Tesla’s part that she was able to be stuck inside at all.
Not even stuck in the car. Just too scared to open the door. Or at least roll the windows down prior to the update (although I’m not sure if it would roll it back up prior to the update)
Yeah, she purposely chose to sit in a car in the sun and do the update. But she’s got her views and ragebait for being an idiot.
I…
The app tells you there’s an update, and then gives you two minutes to exit the vehicle (if you need to since you can just do the update from your phone and don’t have to be in the car to initiate it....I always kick it off from my couch or bed or whatever). No, it doesn’t recognize you’re still in the car, which…
From the TikTok, she willfully initiated the update while sitting inside the car, so perhaps the only thing that needs to be improved is the software message associated with “Do you want to proceed with the update?”
Per usual nowadays, this has the feel of fakery. I’m sure she was notified ahead of time of the update — because Tesla’s not going to just start an update without a warning — so why didn’t she exit then?
You have to try to do this. The app notifies you that you have an update. You have to click start the update now or whatever the go button says. Then it gives you a two minute countdown to change your mind and cancel (or exit the vehicle). Then it starts to update. Incidentally, I’ve never had an update take 40…
Tik-Tok-er...Woman got locked was trapped chose to stay in her Tesla and now has monetized her plight to over 100k views. FTFY
Are you going to include any information about Reed’s pending felony weapons charges? Or his prior arrests that involved firearms? Or perhaps question why he was driving around with a gun in his car with no concealed carry permit, and a previously revoked firearm owners identification card
Rational author: “Tesla asked to update under-sized warning lights on most of their U.S.-sold vehicles”
It’s more people love to shit all over Tesla’s for no other reason than they see other people shitting all over Tesla’s.
