When making references within your network, please be careful with your attempts to help. It’s been my personal experience that meet-and-greets go nowhere unless there’s an actively open role that might fit the candidate. The frustration of meeting with dead-end contacts had an adverse, long-lasting impact on some of…
In the words of the smartest IT guy I know “open-source software is only free if your time has no value”. And no truer words have ever been spoken when it comes to Linux.
1) Firefox + uBlock Origin (for ad blocking) + Bypass Paywalls Clean (for reading articles without paywalls)
I work in the gaming industry so layoffs are insanely common. I join slack channels and discord channels of industry professionals in the area. I encourage my friends in the industry to join because they have job boards. Personally, I also keep in touch with coworkers and if I ever get laid off I’ll reach out to them…
Binging with Babbish on Youtube uses a cinnamon stick as a pie chimney.
Used Linux off and on for years when I needed to, even trained to support it, but I’ve never found a single aspect of using a computer that was easier to do on Linux than on Windows. The only exception being VMware’s highly modified (*fixed, IMO) version of Linux that is ESXi. The CLI is especially painful in most…
I just got a new laptop, so I found this article timely. I already installed VLC, sumatra and Calibre. I prefer Edge to Chrome, but I’ll probably install Firefox sooner or later.
They’re telling me my zipcode will be six inches underwater by 2050. Watch out, folks, I live at 4500 feet MSL. Y’all are in for a time.
TikTok, the official guide for advancing stupidity and enhancing the Darwin Awards program.
I tend to ruminate on things I regret or things I don’t want to have to deal with when I’m going to bed at night. I’ve found that instead of staring at my phone until I crash (a bad habit I seem to break and regain a few times across the year), it’s been helpful to play versions of the “alphabet game.” I’ll pick a…
If I’m an insurance adjuster, and you say that you tried this first, and your house flooded later. I’m going to laugh at you and deny your claim. People who answer “yes” to “have you EVER relied on TikTok for advice should be disqualified from participating in society.
I was coming to say this. And you can get sliders that work for floors that are hard (wood, tile, concrete, vinyl) or covered with a rug.
Well this sounds like a fun way to freak myself out
While sticking plumbers epoxy IN the pipes seems insanely stupid...I’ve had a chunk of plumbers epoxy on the outside of my drain for 15+ years. I’m not touching it until I have to.
For heavy furniture, you can buy furniture sliders super cheap on Amazon or wherever that you can just slip under the feet of a couch or heavy desk and faaar more easily push them across the floor to clean under them. Big recommend
Enough with the friggin’ slide shows! Yikes.
NSDR sounds interesting. I’m going to try this for sure! Let us know if you have any recommended videos or MP3s that have worked for you.
I suffer from nocturnal panic attacks. Soon after I fall asleep I wake up trembling. So far, only Gabapentin or kratom seem to help stop it from happening in the first place. I’ve seen doctor after doctor and had test after test to see if it’s physical with no answers in the last 10 years. The 4-7-8 breathing…
It’s worth noting that the specific type/pattern of deep breathing is extremely important. In this case, the most effective way to reduce anxiety and calm oneself is to do the “physiological sigh.” Lots of very interesting (and robust) data about this.
