What I do is mix hot water and with alcohol and scrub it (I know, i know, of course later you rinse it only with water and let it dry, right?), or Easy-Off (hate this though) , or as last resort, damp kitchen towel with ammonia, put on top of the crust, cover it with plastic wrap, let it sit a few hours or overnight,

Getting rid of books has been terrible to me.
