You know what they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

in his classic wedge cap? oh i know!
A while ago I spotted Josh Charles in NYC, and I took the chance to put my face six inches from his and whisper-shriek “You are so FUCKING AWESOME.” As I did it, my brain belatedly alerted me to the fact that this was not the most appropriate way to express admiration to a stranger. As I prepared myself for the…
My initial (and almost only) takeaway is that Josh Charles is on twitter and worthy of my massive high school crush on him.
Not well known is that Bowie quietly paid for the education of Roland Bolan, son of Bowie’s old buddy Marc Bolan, who died young and whose fortune, such as it was, was tied up in Bleak House-level legal quagmires. The Bolan widow and son were left with nothing. Roland revealed all this a few years ago, noting that…
Ugh, part of my comment was lost because phone. (Boo, phone.) Coco Schwab is not “a personal assistant.” She has been his personal assistant since 1971. She was with him through the stardom, through the coke addiction, she was in Berlin to help him and Iggy clean up, she was there through the 80s, stayed by his side…
Coco Schwab has been his assistant since 1971. Bowie was and is the classiest. He’ll be missed forever.
I think it will be a lot easier to get the ashes through customs than a body. I’ve got to admit, I’ve got this really silly mental image of a very nice urn being through an airport x-ray machine.
Since she was a mother to him, I have to assume she’s still very much a big part of his life. She’s probably invited to family functions, etc.
Right. Sounds like they were loyal to him because he was good to them in life as well. People can be really strange when it comes to assistants, almost treating them like property. Sounds like they were more like friends.
That one got me right in the feels. I still have days where I forget he’s gone :(
I think that anyone who keeps assistants and staff around that long must be.
I think the stipulation for his son’s nanny is especially kind; Jones is in his mid-40s, so she did the bulk of her work decades ago, when Bowie was pretty fucked up. Obviously I don’t know any of these people and have no clue what their present-day relationship might be, but it’s nice to see acknowledgment given to…
Also his daughter is the child of a world famous musician and supermodel, and I don’t recall ever seeing a picture of even the back of her head, even since his passing. That’s masterful work in this day and age.
It’s nice to read an article about a celebrity’s will that sounds reasonable and fair and the people who are getting the inheritance being the same.
How nice. Personal assistants and nannies often give up chunks of their personal lives. It’s appropriate that they be treated like one of the family.
