I’m obese, as are a few other women in my office. The GM of my company sees fit to comment on my lunches and all the lunches of the women in the office. All. The. Time. Telling us how proud he is of us when he sees us with a salad, and lecturing us when he sees us with anything else.

I’m in my early 30s, but I am obese (and have been most of my life), so it might just be a PCOS or obesity thing for me since they’re mostly on my chin.

Is she into Korean skincare? Maybe get her some sheet masks at Sephora! :)

Is there a building handbook for your building? Usually, apartment buildings have “quiet hours” where any excessive noise is frowned upon or just outright against the rules. Talk to your building management company if you can’t find a set of residence rules.

Sim cards are cheap in practically every country but the U.S., and they might even have temporary ones for tourists that work for a certain number of days, (5, 10, 15, etc). In the UK, I believe the most popular places to go are Orange shops, but just ask any local and they should be able to help.

Had to shake the hands of a man who worked as a “higher up” at the Heritage Foundation once when I lived in the DC area. Definitely washed my hands the first chance I got! :)

Ugh, I hate random face hairs that suddenly show up. I get them all over my damn chin. Random thick hairs that I need to pluck out all the damn time!

Ahhh! Both of them! Together! So jealous!

I’ve got a couple of invitations, and might take the bus to my friend’s house to stuff my face with her and her family and friends, maybe even make/bring something. But with a shitty, stressful work life...I kind of just want to spend time alone in my apartment and watch TV/Netflix/Whatever.

Here here. I totally understand. I feel most people understand this, and you just might already know some people who are like this, but feel like they have to be extroverts because of societal/professional/whatever expectations. Most of the people who know me and all of my actual friends said they totally understand.

You’ll do wonderfully. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or for help when you know you need it, and don’t be afraid to admit mistakes. AlLso, don’t be afraid to ask for more work and responsibility, because when it comes time for that performance review (or however your new workplace does it), you can say you were

“And this isn’t to say that Gawker is particularly bad, just that Gawker is like so many other male-dominated workplaces these days; the sexism is often unconscious and the power dynamics are perpetuated not through malice but through men refusing to question themselves and their motivations”

“It’s funny how beautiful people are when they’re walking out the door.”

Todd Haynes piqued my interest with “Far From Heaven”, but won my love with “Velvet Goldmine”. I never tire of VG, and I actually liked “Mildred Pierce” more than I wanted to admit, but mainly because of how gorgeous and dreamy everything looked. I just love LOOKING at Haynes’ movies. They’re always like a dream of

My personal preference for Bowie at his sexiest: during his interview for “The History of Rock and Roll” documentary in the early 90s.

Reminds me of the “Fashion”video:

Brandi, I’ll truly miss your posts, especially your review of the subscription boxes! Definitely going to keep my eye out on your Twitter feed for your new home on the interwebs. :)

I’m so sorry to see you go. You were my favorite part of Jezebel, and I seriously will miss your posts!!!

I’m sick of both of them, but at least Guy Fieri’s fans don’t pretend to be something other than what they are...

Target donates its overstock to Goodwill. New Target stuff comes in every week to all the Goodwill stores in my state. They even have their own section at the Goodwill stores.
