It’s terrible that the solution is for you to change, not punish the harassment. *rolls eyes*

Exactly, girl. Don’t let ‘em run you out. #bostonstrong

It’s good advice, though, since it’s well-known that drunk dudes threaten to rape people only within the borders of the city of Boston. It must be something in the water.

Clearly it’s just Boston where all the potential rapists gather, and you’re 100% safe anywhere else.

Which is why I’m so happy we have John and Sir Patrick. n_n

The Gizmodo commentary crushed my spirit.

An apt analogy:

Yes because street harassment is exclusive to Boston ; )

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

Ughhhh. Gross.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THEM, POPPY?!?!?! WHAT ABOUT THEM?!?!!

Fuck your flamethrower, nuke it from orbit.

I know how to fix Gizmodo’s comments section: the solution involves a flamethrower and a lot of patience. It’s like if the Kotaku comments section could actually spell/write in complete sentences.

Some drunk dude threatened to rape me when I was walking down the street a while back and when I posted it on Facebook (in a post about street harassment in general) , several of my old high school teachers told me that I should move away from Boston. I was like, they will not run me out.

I’ve had some very vile and disturbing things said to me recently on Gawker and Salon due to some very benign discussions...not controversial topics at all. My husband said I should stop participating in online discussions because of this. Hard to believe that the solution was I stop talking...I mean, really? Didn’t

It’s about time someone blew the lid off our top secret conspiracy to make society suck less.

My father does the same fucking thing. Of course when I disagree with his views which are just barely veiled misogyny, I'm attacking him and he's entitled to his views. He's entitled, but I don't think he understands the difference between a disagreement and an attack 😡

It would be awesome if he responded to that by actually doing a segment on “feminist propaganda” in which he mocks all of the idiots who consider the idea that women are human beings deserving of equal rights to be propaganda.

I foolishly read this over on gizmodo. Wow, did that turn into a “but what about the men” conversation quickly.

This is incredibly satisfying. I remember a comment on one of the Last Week Tonight videos (I know, I know, never read the comments) was a bunch of bros asking for an exposé on “feminist propaganda”. It bothered me that a person could enjoy John Oliver’s show, appreciate the leanings the show has in highlighting

My husband got really freaked out when he saw what some MRA types wrote to me after I commented on an editorial about domestic violence. Of course he wanted me to stop commenting about stuff online, so I had to do the whole “I will not be silenced” speech. But seriously, make that shit a crime already.
