I have a Dylan right now. That kid is a serious pain in the butt when he wants to be.

I had to watch three shows for one of my Early Childhood classes last year. One of them was Backyardigans. My husband and I both declared that our future kids will never watch that show. Ugh.
Some Americans are really bad with various American accents as well. I grew up outside NYC, as did my dad. Mom grew up in Oklahoma. I guess my accent is kind of a mixed bag. On vacation last year, still on the East Coast, a waitress thought I was from somewhere in Europe. I think she said Germany.
The bottom left image is why I have grocery bags with handles long enough to go on my shoulders. I have to open three doors to get into my apartment (exterior, elevator, and apartment) and I have no desire to struggle with all of them.
I'm in the same boat. First year teacher, in a young 4s room. I came home ready to cry on Friday. I'm still waiting for these kids to understand that they do have to listen to me when I talk and follow directions that I give. I have only had these kids for two weeks though.
I would have felt the same way. That's not wimpy at all. I don't think I would have been able to handle it. I can watch SVU with no problem, but real life is different.
About 10 years ago I was called for jury duty and put in two pools. One case was a guy who sold pot to an undercover cop. Twice. The other was a civil suit from parents whose kid got hurt mildly on a playground. They were suing the company that installed it. I'm still glad that I didn't end up serving on either…
I forgot about Ezra. I knew an Ezra in college.
My Jamaican step-dad's niece did that too. I thought it was ridiculous, but to each their own I guess.
Both are of African descent, probably with parents born there actually. I'm aware that it's just a matter of a different language, it's just the first time I've come across male names that end in a.
Yes! Certain names will forever remind me of specific kids.
Which is why I'm confused by the two little boys in my school named Ibrahima.
I honestly don't know. I tend to get them when I'm stressed or my immune system is worn down. I started a new job this week, had a cold/allergies, and started my period three days early. I blamed that for it.
Thanks. I tend to assume my body is acting weird, but sometimes it seems that it's not.
Is it normal to only get cold sores in one specific spot? I don't get them more than 2 or 3 times a year, but always on the right side of my lower lip.
It's not just in NYC. My husband I and I were in NJ for Memorial Day weekend and we rented bikes. Other than one old man, we were the only adults wearing helmets on the road.
I made that same face many times today. Pre-k is serious business sometimes.
My great-grandmother's name was Henrietta. My little brother is named for her. If he had been a girl his name would be Yetta. Rhietta is a much nicer sounding nickname to me.
Somewhere in my family history there is a Christopher Columbus and a Marquis de Lafayette (first and middle names). I laughed so hard when I found those on the family tree.
I was going to suggest some of what nighgranta said. Clubs were where I made most of my friends in college. Groups that have space to hang out in outside of meeting times are the best. Especially if they have comfortable couches and available outlets.
