I think this game would be more fun with a cost cap of ~$30k for commuter cars. I’m sure there will be exceptions, but basically anyone with a >$45k budget that wants a basic commuter can go to autotrader, plug in all the features they like, eliminate anything ugly to you, then there are your options.

That’s probably the real price of gas, if you incorporate the cost of its impact on the environment. Obviously this kind of change would be impossible overnight and without measures to ameliorate the immediate impact, but it is absolutely necessary.
