I wonder if the update will be backward compatible G4's
I guess, due to the iPhone not having dual-sim, you could be correct on this front. However I thought this trend died with the BlackBerry(RIP).
Are the two iphones really needed?
I did this a while back on a USB 2.0 Flash drive. The harddrive in my computer literally gave out and all I had were the recovery disks and a 16gb flash drive. the install worked, however it was slow, almost unusable, in addition to using most of the flashdrives read/write cycles.
I feel old.
Oh jeeze, the Inspiron 1505e. This PC has some miles behind it. Works great still under linux though (Ubuntu Natty). Just some issues finding the drivers for the screen and the wireless card, however the fixes are permanent and it works just like new.

I do whitelist my favorite sites from these extensions, such as kinja/gizmodo/lifehacker etc, however most of the web is blocked for me. Only sites that I care about, These tools also are great anti-virus/anti malware tools if setup correctly
Holy Cow, I have been browsing for Adblock and various ad/tracking blocker scripts for so long, when I shut them off just to see what "normal person internet" looked like, and long story short and I am never going back.
What about Kinja/Gizmodo/Lifehacker?
