Ha, well, I didn’t mean to be too pedantic. Honestly I didn’t even really have a big problem with your statement in that some people use “history” as a way to reference “recorded history” which, given the time frame, would be totally correct.
A friend of a friend was a cop. He was by all accounts a decent person. But it’s as you say, he was completely aware of all the authoritarians and racism in the department. That feeling of discomfort sure wasn’t enough to stop him from pulling a paycheck. At least not since last I heard anything about him.

While it’s true that religious groups (not just christians) trend towards having more restrictive views on what is socially appropriate behavior for women, I’m not sure that I would be comfortable saying “most of it” like that.

There are cops who are good people for the most part (ignoring the whole, participating in a system of oppression thing).
Not competition per se but George and Ryan are good writers who do a decent job of actually getting in touch with study authors etc. and keeping their articles level headed while also being friendlier to your average Joe.
