I think this problem is overblown and will go away.. mostly.

I ‘ve had to run the heater in mid-summer 3 times. All for cracked radiators. 3 different cars. Did it just a couple months ago on a warm day with a split radiator in my current car. It works, but it sucks.

The same thing happened in the 90s with nuclear power.

The shifter still sucks. Not any worse than anyone else mind you, but there still isn’t a good tactile feedback on what is going on. I have an older minivan. There are bangs and clicks and this meaty thing moving around as I shift from P to D and I know without even looking if it is in P, R or D.

They did.  But in the 80s with the Audis having issues, they put in lockouts to make sure you put the brake on before going into reverse and almost all the manufacturers moved to a pattern of movement of the shifter to go from P to D instead of a straight line as well in response to the Audi issues.

I had a rental with a series of pull and push buttons that I had to look at and figure out each time I used it.  I never got used to it, even after a week fo driving.
