He’s not going to sue because that means he’ll have to be deposed. And he does not want this shit on the record. Plus it’s up to him to prove what they said is a lie, not the other way around.

Notice he didn’t deny that he did what they said he did...
Hmm of all the things he said, “these are lies”, does not appear. He can fuck the fuck off, but I hope he does sue so then he’ll have to undergo discovery.
That’s about the only part that tracks. Health commissions don’t fuck around.
Is their a rule about hair? Hair length? I’m sure girls wrestle and have pony tails or braids. If there’s no specific written rule the coach should have taken his entire team home ASAP and told that ref to fuck off.
referee, not coach.
He tried it.
I’m really surprised that no one stepped in to complain. It really is like people just care less about black kids because I’ve seen parents mad about much smaller stuff when white kids are playing.
The ONLY hope I gained from watching this earlier was seeing how his teammates tried to comfort him during and after. I know people are commenting that they all should have walked off but that would have been a forfeit and for all we know scholarships were on the line. I can’t imagine that his parents were there…
They’re not children when they’re playing competitive sports. Then they’re more like IRL sports video game characters for grown-ups to control and exploit. That goes double for black kids. White people who get their blood up for HS sports don’t even see black children athletes as humans, just livestock. It’s stupid.
How this guy even still has job after calling a black official the N-word, apparently while poking his finger in the official’s chest, is beyond me. He used all the typical excuses too: ‘I didn’t really even remember saying it’ and ‘it just slipped out.’ If that word ‘just slips out’ then you’re fucking racist.
Fuck that ref. That’s point one. But also, fuck Andrew Johnson’s team, coach, and school for not showing up for him. If he’s expected to sacrifice his time, youth, and energy for a sports team and their collective victories, those motherfuckers could have stuck up for him. All the weekends, afternoons, evenings,…
“Epitome of a team player” - hmmmmmm, when I see this, I think of a person being sold on a slave block. You don’t like the hair - shorn it off. You have a young black man surrounded by white people while his hair is being cut and they stare. Where the fuck are his parents.
His body language at the end has me weeping. Children deserve better than this.
This is beyond fucked up. I wrestled for *years* in the mid-Atlantic and south and have known people to do disgusting things to have a slight psychological advantage, including but not limited to 1) not showering for a week to be smelly and slippery during a tournament, 2) giving an opponent an “oil change” (thumb in…
NJ.com notes that others wondered why the only option presented to Johnson was to cut his hair instead of competing with a wrap over his dreadlocks, which is what most wrestlers with long hair do.
Every time I see that thumbnail I get so angry. This is probably the most casually racist visual of 2018 and that is saying A LOT.
This is infuriating. That scum referee shouldn’t be allowed near kids.
The whole team should have boycotted the meet.
Fuck everyone in the room who didn’t stop this.
