I scored a bag of crap in last week's Woot Off! Unfortunately, shipping is delayed due to nasty weather. Can't wait to see what's in it.

@Whitson Gordon: Ya know what's funny? I remember trying something like this as a kid. Using tape and bare copper wire, I tried to wire up larger batteries to my light just to see what would happen. I think I reversed the polarity because one of the wires got really hot and starting melt-slicing through the battery.

Pretty cool idea. Overclocking a bulb just doesn't sound like a good idea though.

@espekia: If you want a full-featured OS, Mandriva and PCLinuxOS are netbook friendly. For something lighter go with Peppermint or Crunchbang.

@jcnaquin: Depends if you like tweaking. If you don't feel like rolling up your sleeves, but want a lite distro, go with Peppermint.

@RulonJonesy: What inputs does your TV have? (VGA, component, s-video?) and what outputs does your laptop have, just VGA or something else?

@kettlewhistle: Low rise jeans and flat front (non pleated) slacks might be what you're after.

@TheFu: I second OpenDNS.

@John Steele: Not sure what it will do to the concrete but it will leave salt residue around your shoes. You're better off just shoveling the snow right after it falls before it gets icy and stale, but I know that conflicts with your "condition" :-)

@icecreamman: Usually just wool socks because my commuter has toe clips.

@icecreamman: My winter biking usually consists of temps from -10 to 35.

@informationjuggler: The example I thought of was Man on Wire for three reasons: 1) A lot of people would have told Philippe that walking across the World Trade Center towers was a bad idea 2) He seized an opportunity that certainly wouldn't be available forever 3) He focused on the rewards of success and not the risk

@John Masters: Best advice I've seen so far on this thread. It's amazing how effective punishments/rewards can reinforce a behavior, even among highly intelligent people.

Part of the inspiration for my comment was based on Dr. Tom Elliff's book 10 Questions Every Husband Should Ask His Wife Every Year.

@Flail: Crunchbang is a good one, but you're right it is a little daunting for a noob. I really like Peppermint OS. It's placed nicely between Ubuntu and Crunchbang imo.

@TheFu: I don't know how to help you, but let me just say I am surprised you use Win7 for your media center. I would peg you for a Myth user.

@pkl007: I am currently using a Nokia E63. Holding down the space bar on the qwerty keyboard is a shortcut to enable the led as a flashlight. Never had issues.

@John Steele: Good advice. However, often times wealth comes from seizing an opportunity. You have to spend money to make money and at times that may require a loan. (leasing property to use it for renting out an apartment complex, for example) Good credit makes this possible.

@TheFu: I have...the Superfeet, InStep, and one other I don't know the name of...for shoes they work fine, but for hockey (think really stiff boots) they don't quite get the job done. Maybe someone with cycling cleats or ski boots could offer some insight.

@Chet Kuhn: It's true unless they've recently changed this. When cardholders carry a balance close to their limit, it appears to be a potential liability.
