Does anyone know how to enable Wifi calling ONLY when connected to my home network?

Buy a MacMini for $550 or build a Hackintosh?

I think what the author meant was: The individual mandate to carry insurance won't affect you (because you are already insured).

Any way to stream xvid files from a NAS to a Kindle Fire without remote desktop? Perhaps a samba share or something?

A lot of times they will have a sticky at the top with basic guides and how-tos. Some of them will have a link to a Wiki, which is more like a manual. There are eBooks on Linux in general, but the ones I've looked at were too broad for my tastes.

Sorry I just realized you were asking for resources, not distro recommendations. Like Weasel said, the best way is to try a distro, then head to the forums. You'll learn things much faster that way.

What are your top 3 essential home office/man-cave items (In addition to the obvious: desk, chair, dual monitors, etc)?

PCLinuxOS is a great distro for newbs. If you're looking for something Ubuntu-based, go with Mint. Something with a KDE desktop will look more familiar if you're coming from Win.

I'm building the AMD equivalent for my bro. I thought I could get by with the existing 400w PSU, but I don't think it's gonna fly. Which one did you go with?

The shut off valve supplying water to my swamp cooler failed this week. Where I live, it usually hovers at or below freezing until late Feb. The 1/4' pipe carrying the water froze and cracked the pipe in several places, and I know I'll need to replace it, but what about the swamp cooler itself? Is there anything I can

Installed PCLinuxOS on my parents desktop a few years ago during the holidays. Occasionally I have to walk them through installing a printer driver, but it definitely beats the bi-annual spyware removal. They prefer it now. When my dad got his new laptop he asked me if they could load it with Linux.

I commute all year long in northern Utah. I thought I'd share a few tips.
