Most people buying new cars in this price range don’t care about long-term quality or reliability. They buy a $250k car, drive it a year or two, and swap it out for something new.

“Pointlessly fast” is spot on. I’ve stopped getting weak over M/AMG/RS cars for exactly that reason. A $50,000 M240i hits 100kph in 4.5 seconds. That’s f*ing quick enough!
