Pretty sure Nicole Kidman is a redhead, isn’t she?

Pauline Kael’s review of “Madame X”(1966) talked about how disconcerting it was to see Lana Turner wearing a Lana Turner mask, and then Constance Bennett wearing a Constance Bennett mask. It’s true, too (actually a more entertaining movie than expected, imo).

That was OVER 20 years ago!!!

I missed this show and am catching up on Netflix. I just hunted down this writeup to say...I’m halfway through, and I am not. Enjoying. This.

The novel that everyone everywhere is reading at the same time...

I just watched last night, a friend suggested the first movie a few weeks ago and we’ve watched each of them. I knew next to nothing about them going in, only that they’d come up recently as being really good in a couple things I’d read, with each being better than the last. And, it’s true! Parabellum was just a true

I already knew that!! From “Seinfeld” and “The IT Crowd”!

Are these the same people who genuinely want you to know that “Blucher” means “glue factory”* , and so THAT’S WHY ITS FUNNY?? People love thinking they know things...

“Hello-this-is-Carlton-your-doorman”. That’s all. He’ll always be Carlton-your-doorman first to me.

Um...what about Anna Faris’ cat?? Because speaking as a cat-lover who doesn’t like killing things who’s also gay and grew up in a cult...I’ve always gotten a bad-guy vibe from him, literally always. Tell me about him and Anna Faris’ cat.

I’ve been watching the John Wicke movies with a friend, and we just watched “Parabellum” last night. I’d read that they were good, and that each was better than the last. Which was delightfully true! Going into 3 last night, I thought “How will this be ‘better’? More - uh - great fight scenes?”

I finally saw it last night, and yes, it was ok. It was good, it was fine, overall nothing special Bond-wise. But OTOH, the use of OHMSS as a primary reference point, and not in a throwaway “wink-wink, get it” way (“Diamonds are Forever...yone, Mr. Bond”, anyone?), was brilliant, at least for me. As soon as he says in

She lives in a dream where the rice has meaning.

Yes! She’s lonely, and she “picks” it up, not “cleans” it up. Lonely people do things which only have meaning to them, and I always just assumed that was why. The rice means something to her, which we can’t know. It is sad. I personally think it’s like her version of catching the bouquet, in a way.

Together again!!

I thought...didn’t Tina Louise die recently? Maybe not.

You can’t quit me, I FIRE myself!!

I really love how Paul stresses that all the time, that it was all the hours of work they devoted to it that was the key.

And the orange wetsuit from “Thunderball”. Before I saw the movie I’d seen pictures of him in it and thought “I guess it’s true that if you’re handsome enough, you can get away with anything”, and I was very gratified when a character in the movie tells him the same thing. It should just be so stupid-looking, but wow.

Watching the recent “Halston” miniseries, I was reminded that oh yeah, there were some things I liked in 1970's fashions but...sooo few.
