Pauline Kael’s review of “Madame X”(1966) talked about how disconcerting it was to see Lana Turner wearing a Lana Turner mask, and then Constance Bennett wearing a Constance Bennett mask. It’s true, too (actually a more entertaining movie than expected, imo).

I’ve been watching the John Wicke movies with a friend, and we just watched “Parabellum” last night. I’d read that they were good, and that each was better than the last. Which was delightfully true! Going into 3 last night, I thought “How will this be ‘better’? More - uh - great fight scenes?”

I finally saw it last night, and yes, it was ok. It was good, it was fine, overall nothing special Bond-wise. Yes! She’s lonely, and she “picks” it up, not “cleans” it up. Lonely people do things which only have meaning to them, and I always just assumed that was why. The rice means something to her, which we can’t know. It is sad. I personally think it’s like her version of catching the bouquet, in a way.
