Most apocalypse fiction is basically frontier fiction. We had western stories, novels, movies, radio shows, and TV series for about a hundred years or so (even farther back if you think of James Fenimore Cooper as “westerns”), and then the genre effectively died out in the ‘70s. For a brief time it looked like space

I imagine their perspective was that they would rather get the money than the overpriced food... ostensibly, the company would be paying the same in any case so I’m not entirely sure how you could characterize that as “screwing them over”.

the doordash of journalism as it were...

People are arguing over masks because for four months, we’ve been receiving conflicting information about them from the CDC, the media, and you.

They made it public so that their stock price would go up.

Reminds me of the great Spinal Tap album Smell the Globe. Alright, I am the last person on the planet who could rightfully toss an editorial stone (have you read my comments?), but the second sentence in the last paragraph may need some fixing: globe instead of glove.

Making a global pandemic a partisan platform is just wrong. Wrong for conservatives, liberals, political agnostics, and everyone in between. Truth is, everyone fucked up, and continues to fuck up. Wishing one group to die off isn’t helping anyone, particularly when that group is in close proximity to everyone else

I should have been more specific! It's the sequence of presentations that concern me. Moaning followed by gagging can indicate a serious condition.

Mad funny.

Yeah, calling your PCP and stating you have chest pain will invariably lead to the advice “call 911 or go to the ER.” The PCP call is an unnecessary waste of time, which as you point out is “brain/heart.” Your PCP doesn’t have the capacity to order stat labs/imaging and activate a cath lab. Get it together.

That was three different outlets - across the street, 40 miles away and at my destination. And it wasn’t even the first problems I’ve had with them (although the others weren’t quite so egregious or piled up). Google “problems with UHaul” - I did - afterwards. It was horrifying - and ultimately hilarious it was so

You know they mention that car in the bible-- God drove Adam and Eve out of the garden of eden in a Fury.

The big point was trying to drive home that authoritarian dictators are often total buffoons who tell lies so craven, so stupid they are basically incomprehensible to most people. Ceaușescu in particular was known for being a total fucking idiot every time he opened his mouth. The system was so corrupt it didn’t

Beelzebub has a hack put aside for me, for me, for meeeeee...

Why would someone name this “Thunderspy”?

Come to think of it, I would like to see a sequel of Bad Santa with her.

At least you didn’t recommend the Electroids, Doc.

Uh-huh.  Go ahead and calculate how much fabric it would take to bounce 1% of the sunlight falling on the mid-Atlantic.  I’ll wait.

You can have mine.  I ate a potato chip three days ago and I’m good.
