It's an Xbox One title here. That's the definitive proof that it's a joke. Even if somehow the rest actually came true, the green case means it shall never come to be.

Yeah, so someone on GAF posted this plan...

Perhaps they'll try a different corporate sponsor? Mr Pibb and Slim Jims instead of dew and doritos! How rebellious!

I feel a little sorry for anyone expecting some kind of revolution (or even a significant revolution) this coming generation. At this point we have no new gizmos. We don't really have anything experimental. Maybe you could call second-screen stuff a step forward but it's already been around and there hasn't been any

Online multiplayer play now requires PS+, yes. And obviously that's a paid service. Accessing apps does not, however. Sony does not require that you pay a monthly fee to use services that already have a monthly fee.

Probably Twitch's idea but obviously both sides think it's a great idea. Hell, might have paid Microsoft for the rights to advertise their product via offering achievements to users. It will undoubtedly bring in more users so I assume it's being sponsored.

Aah, so does this mean you'll get a special achievement for watching Shark Week? Because this completely opens up the idea of specific networks or services offering custom achievements for using specific VOD stuff.

Wait. Achievements for using a subscription service? That's already behind a paywall subscription service? No. Just. No.

Additionally, the Twitch app will carry its own set of achievements, some of them awarded for viewing habits bordering on the obsessive. "Watch one hour of live video on Twitch channels that have less than 10 viewers," gets you the "Hipster" achievement, for example. Another gives out an achievement for watching "at

No. You have no understanding of art. Stop pretending like you do since you're forgetting one of the most basic rules.

There's still a line where, at some point, it becomes somewhat unethical to report on "some rumor", even if it's about a juicer topic. I know Kotaku staff aren't 100% traditional journalists because of the nature of the site, but you guys are generally quite careful on what you print.

It's been part of human nature since basically, well, the dawn of civilization to see how awesome stuff looks when you destroy it. This is far from a new trend. Modern technology and pop culture memes just make wrecking stuff even more entertaining.

Quite the contrary. Sony brass have said recently that they read popular forums (like GAF). Hell, they could post there and we'd have no idea. In fairness, there are some official Microsoft people who post there and that are responsive on Twitter.

You'd be terrified of how deep some people have taken it. For example, from this gif, use it as something Banderas sees as he sits down to his computer before pulling back and relaxing.

This is "supposed" to be a gif that shuts off console warring since it points out hiccups in both systems, but— hand to god— people just argued harder instead of taking the joke.

You forgot the "official" fix— If you think you can tell the difference, simply sit back farther until 720p or 1080p no longer matters! Common sense!

I'm inclined to agree, which means the ending of this DLC is probably insanely depressing.

It's price I'm most curious about. Sony sells some bonkers-expensive immersion headsets for watching blurays and I can't see how they make such a gigantic leap ahead unless they've invented some kind of dark magic to make it all work and for cheap.

They have a PS4 VR set in development. It almost showed it at TGS this fall but yanked it last-minute so they didn't muddle up the rest of the marketing. I'd vaguely expect a "full" reveal at next E3 and, lord willing, some actual hardware for holiday 2015.

Can't disagree that any/all of that would be neat, but sadly it's pushing heavily into an epic wishlist piece of hardware and not something plausible. One big thing— The Vita would be great with an HDMI out, but now we can understand why they didn't do that.
