“Which may be true, from a lawyer’s perspective.”

Never understood the hate for this one. I have both kinds of cars and would never choose the keyed ignition anymore.

Start/Stop technology, and the inability to permanently turn it off.  You have to disable it every time you drive your car (at least on Toyotas).  It is annoying as fuck and I’m not getting any better gas mileage than my old car of the same model without the “feature”.

In case anyone wants to actually see the cool tires mentioned in the headline without going on a fucking goose chase:

Superchargers are cool but In a year and a half I’ve only used one once. And it was the day I bought the car because they sold it to me with 25% charge and I wanted to show it off the next day and my house charger wasn’t in yet.

If you ask the dealer not to prep the car they will most likely oblige (except they’ll do any mechanical prep). Collectors do this sometimes and just leave all the film and stickers on forever. It’s not all that unusual.

And then everyone clapped.

Who said anything about Tesla and their imaginary-for-now Roadster?

Where do these cars go when they’re 4 months old?

They don’t just burn the cars when a person turns them in. Cars now sit on the road for the longest time in history as second and third owners hold onto them as long as possible and as they last longer than ever before.

100% true. To a lot of people making that kind of money disposable income who see a car just like they see their iPhones. Honestly I think Volvo tapped into a very profitable part of the market with this program. It is also a great way to get people from other brands to try Volvos. I have driven them before and they

1) They could buy a newer car. A nice used one. And smaller. Pay cash if possible.

Literally zero people disagree with you.

The only reason dealers still exist is because they lobby to exist.

Said like someone who has never purchased a new car from a dealership before. They are a legitimate part of the process. The problem is they are also a profit center for a dealer, and many F&I people are failed or burnt out salespeople.

I have zero desire for any car where I have to fuck around with putting physical keys in locks. I have my Luddite tendencies when it comes to cars, but keys are very much not one of them. I have touch code locks on my HOUSES too. Physical keys are relics of bygone days.

So something that indirectly affects me shouldn’t worry me? Junky house/cars bring down property value. My neighbor behind me is a hoarder and while I don’t pay for it directly the fuck ton of mosquitoes that live and breed in all her shit do impact me and my family. All her stuff may be on her property, but that
