most developers are salaried, and even the contractors are probably not billing hourly but rather weekly or monthly or per engagement phase or something along those lines.  there’s not really such a thing as overtime in that case.

the days of just working 40h/wk are gone in most industries, especially tech.  if you dont work overtime, you’re not going to be working any time.  sure if everyone unionized and everyone was on the same page, sure.  but until that happens, if you say ‘sorry i worked my 40 already this week’ you’ll be gone pretty…

well, walmart could pay their employees more without raising prices.  have you looked at their quarterly report? lol.  i dont think thats the case with many/most game developers.
