She’s not in solitary. She was held in administrative segregation for 28 days after her arrest, which her adherents have called “de facto solitary” (detention officials disagree with the characterization, noting she had access to recreation and social visits), but she’s been in general population since April.

Last I read is that she was removed from solitary confinement in April. Has she been put back in since then?

Hmmm .. reading the Guardian link, it sounds to me that the “torture” is merely the act of continuing Manning’s detention? (as opposed to active torture like waterboarding, stress positions, etc.) ...

Can they not throw that word around lightly? “Torture”. Let’s save that for actual torture; god knows the world has already too much actual “torture”. Like “rape” when people use that word for things that aren’t rape (like he’s “raping the environment”). These words should not be taken lightly.

This is the same guy who claimed the UK was torturing Assange by placing him in jail in a higher classification than normal... you know, the same Assange who breached bail conditions and hid in an embassy for several years. Can’t see why the judiciary deemed those conditions necessary...

I read the link, Manning is NOT being tortured. That word carries a connotation that isn’t being met by the evidence.

This is a fiction trope that transcends the world of fantasy and is just a disabled trope: that, when given the option between disabled or abled, a person will always choose the former even if they’ve been disabled their whole life. Because most authors, screenwriters, or other creatives are able-bodied they are

That’s a great post, but another Settlement has sent word that they need our help. I’ll mark it on your map. Go find out what they need. We could use more settlements supporting our cause.

Do you guys have an HR department? I feel like if there was ever a justified reason to file a workplace complaint against someone it would be this.

Ah, you watched that Netflix piece too huh? Really interesting stuff. I’ve also never thought to compare Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters and emerge with one over the other.

Not sure race had much to do with it, at least not in that regard. Dan Aykroyd had intended to star in it with Eddie, who turned it down to do ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ (which is a much better movie). Bill Murray was only cast after John Belushi died, who was the original choice for Venkman. John Candy was the first choice

I’m okay with this being a giant middle finger to the fans who’ve acted so obnoxiously in the past.

I don’t buy White giving Clark a hug after his big reveal. How many stories about Superman has Kent written? White should be super pissed-off that one of his reporters was actually PART of a story and not being honest about it.

The rest of us read and loved DKR, and were furious at Snyder’s laughable attempts to use its signifiers to distract from his fundamental mishandling of both Bats and Clark.

yeah, given her first impressions, i’ll pass.

the more i read about this person the less i am impressed by her.

THEY were assholes?!?!?!?!?

I understand that he’s a filmmaker, he considers himself an auteur (and rightly so) and that he wants his movies to be enjoyed a certain way. But he’s also a filmmaker who made a 3 1/2 hour-long movie financed by Netflix. His film isn’t screening in the great movie houses. It’s screening in living rooms and other
