Um, how do you know Bran hasn’t re-purposed the Night’s Watch to do just that? The last shot is Jon helping a group of them. I don’t know why you’d need it any clearer that his mission now is to help them.

Does he leave the Night’s Watch at the end tho? Looked to me like he was just buggering off to live with the wildlings.

Didn’t miss it at all. The kingsmoot is decided by captains, i.e. people with power earned through violence and control of resources. Not the masses. It’s an oligarchy much like the Six Kingdoms ended up with, which is why she scoffed at democracy and was fine with the oligarchy.

Bran has the first chapter in the series, right? I suppose the ending makes sense, especially if we remember Bran’s expanded role in the book was the link to all of the mythology that the show never dealt with.

Bronn as Master of Coin is indeed Genius with a capital G.

I mean, so much of what we talk about with this story is the subversion of fantasy tropes.  So the last thing that would have been fitting would be for a “lost heir” to claim the throne.

So is Jon the "King beyond the wall" now? If he were to leave the Night's Watch to live with the free folk, who'll try and stop him (especially now that the Wildlings, Nights Watch & The North are all allies)?

My understanding of it is that the white walkers were bringing the BAD winter with them. After they were eliminated, the winter just became a normal one.

It didn’t seem to exist at all. There were the two guys escorting Jon out of the city, but there were only Wildlings at Castle Black. I think it was just a ruse to trick Grey Worm. The Night’s Watch no longer exists, and everyone else knew Jon would run off with the Wildings.

He existed to unite against the dead and kill the last tyrant. He also ends the Targaryen line without an heir. That’s pretty damn big.

That was way better than I thought it would be. It’s been a hell of a journey, and I’m glad to have had y’all as companions along the way.

Like a lot of people, there were things about this season that disappointed me. But now- it’s over. I’m more or less happy with how the Starks wrapped things up, even if King Bran was just... no. But Sansa deserves to be Queen in the North, Arya is doing Arya stuff, and Jon - well, frankly, I think it’s a pretty

So much hate in you. I can’t begin to imagine how sad and lonely your days must be for you to wait for nights to watch shows you disdain.

That was a lovely finale. It felt a lot like a first season episode–a lot of discourse on rule and power with a bit of humor. Very happy they chose this route instead of another battle episode, although I already see people complaining it was ‘anticlimactic’. (I’m sure if it ended in another major war the same people

You think so? I mean, R+L=J was true, though didn’t have the expected effect of putting Jon/Aegon VI on the throne. But as for the prophecies, I can’t think of any off the top of my head that didn’t come true.  Like with most pythlogies, HOW the prophecies come true is often not what the characters, or even the

They’re saying that the real threat isn’t climate change (the Night King) it’s ambitious women and foreigners.

Perfect ending. Great bookend with the children of men walking north in the final episode and the white walkers walking south in the first episode. Wouldn’t change a thing!

And with that, GOT comes to an end.

I’m so glad they laughed at that.  I was terrified that's the way they were going to go

Much appreciation to Tobias Menzies. Edmure making a play for the throne was exactly the laugh I needed this episode.
