Respectfully, the dude with the weird username is 100% correct up until the last sentence. That last sentence may be a matter of opinion, but the previous three weren’t. “NuTrek” is much more emotive, less cerebral, and portrays a regressive trend in society vs TNG, DS9, etc. Those older Treks were much more positive

But that one guy only likes things with humor, so this should have humor. /s

A completely fair criticism, I’d say. I like Strange New Worlds, too. But it and most of the recent Star Trek stuff feels far less like the product of a distinct vision than TOS and Next Gen.

I watched 24 a few years ago and, while there’s a lot you could criticize about it, one think I found oddly charming about it was how seriously it took itself. In this age of Whedon/MCU-style quipping and lamp shading, I thought it was refreshing to watch a show that never winked at the audience.

The cop (without looking it up, Da Shi is how I believe it is spelled) was pretty witty...but otherwise, yeah, very somber.

Reruns aren’t new, but the ability to readily go back and watch these series on your own time is relatively new. And hell, some shows didn’t consistently air in syndication. Streaming (and DVD availability) did increase the ability to nostalgia-watch quite a bit.

Are you serious?  The DOJ, a Department that the White House has trusted implicitly the last 4 years released a report that Biden was mentally incompetent.  You’re fucking delusional.

This show doesn’t seem that fun to watch, but I just can’t buy the idea that there’s something morally wrong about doing a game show based on Squid Game. The series was always popular entertainment with some social commentary elements. It’s more Triangle of Sadness than Schindler’s List. It’s not sacrosanct.

I find this fictional world so hard to take seriously. There’s all this hemming and hawing about “what’s to be done” and “how to live in these conditions”, but simultaneously having to take seriously an annual celebration where kids fight each other to the death for sport. Any normal society would have torn itself

It sounds like lazy writing, to be honest. “What’s a good way to create relationship drama? I know! One of them cheats on the other!” If that’s all you can come up with, you’re not that good of a writer.

For all these reasons, sure. But also: their relationship wasn’t just nice or cute, it was presented as a mutual remedy for their respective neuroses.

Chandler and Monica as a couple has held up really well in retrospect. It’s like the writers wanted to go in the completely opposite direction of Ross and Rachel and so made a really mature, loving, supportive relationship.

Hugh Laurie gets it.

I agree, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter is a criminally underappreciated song. I'd put at at #5, personally.

I’ll also chuck in a shout for Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins.

It’s obviously very hard to narrow down thousands of videos to just 50, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, and its omission from this list is glaring.  Great video, great song.  Sober by Tool also needs to be here.

Jon won't lie because he is an idiot, so the whole pretending Dany Poochied away was a non starter.
