The gameboy player is literally a GBA itself; it shouldn’t be stuttering at all unless the original game had stuttering issues.

Actually perhaps this gives us an opportunity to mod the game and fix the terrible script translations that FFV keeps getting in the West, as well as replace the character sprites.
