I just read that the tournament will take place in the Michigan, hosted by USA Hockey.

I highly doubt USA Hockey can’t afford more than to pay the silver medalists $1,000/month for the six months leading up to the World Championships. How is Team Canada funded? How is fucking Team Belarus funded? Why not just pass a bill to fund labour for the national sports teams so players don’t have to choose…

If they’re getting an unfair slice of the pie then obviously that should be fixed. However if they aren’t pulling in money they shouldn’t just be gifted it because of some moral obligation, nor should they want to be.
