I looked into the Nissan Leaf, how is it on the highway? Ever had any issues with charging it? I live in San Diego so there's plenty of charging stations here, hell I think some are in my apartment complex. I have an 05 Civic so my gas isn't too bad, but I love the idea of having an electric car.

I have an Aero Press, with a Bonavita Electric Kettle and a Hario coffee grinder that I bought nearly 2 years ago and they're all going strong. All for under $200.

Yep. I'm a game developer and I don't think I could work on just one monitor. One monitor is fine for surfing the net and/or watching a movie but dual monitors are almost always way better. Even when I'm doing mindless stuff at home I like to have a movie playing on one screen while I work on the other.

I was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force so I know a bit about managing people. I'm a pretty relaxed and laid back guy when it comes to managing others and it always rubbed some of my supervisors the wrong way. The things I learned both sides is that everyone has different ways of managing people and different ways of

I'll definitely have to check this out. I have a folder with like 50 different scripts in all sorts of formats.

I love La Jolla, I actually work "down the street" in Miramar.

I rarely if ever do Black Friday shopping. I think I went once and it was because my uncle wanted to go to get some things and I bought a GPS system for my car since I had just come to the US after a 3 year stay in Asia. Black Friday just likes to peddle crap for slightly discounted prices and people go crazy for it.

Thanks, I'll have to look into it.

I've been like that all this week. It's the worst, because you have no idea why you're up, you're just "awake". Then the anxiety about being awake sets in, which in turn keeps you awake even longer.

This is a great book, definitely going to read it again.

For me I find it best to keep myself active in some way. I've been having a rough week but once I start getting actively involved in accomplishing something, whether it be working on a project or actually just playing a game that keeps me engaged, I feel a ton better afterward. All the time I felt terrible I wasn't

So I'm trying to learn C++ and Python. I found a good resource for Python that I like but what about C++? I just found Programmr.com which seems to have a lot of the languages I'm interested in, anything else that might help with this? I prefer building small projects over just learning the different things in a

I have to update mine. I was using FF and Chrome but now Chrome is my default browser as FF kept giving me issues when watching videos online. I disabled "hardware acceleration" on FireFox yet it still kept doing it when I opened the browser again. I'm talking about the weird distorted/noise look on every video such

I'm just starting to invest heavily into my 401k after I've built up a decent emergency fund. Since I have a second source of income that is tax free, I plan on using that for my day to day expenses and invest the max I can from my taxable job income. It's all the same amount of money but at least this way I'll spend

Thanks for the info. Yeah I've been laid off before, at the beginning of the year in fact and had to nearly exhaust my emergency funds so that's been a number one priority when it comes to savings for me. I'll definitely look at maxing out my 401k to start and then look at getting a Roth IRA as well.

Yeah I know what you mean. When I lived in Japan I bought my dream car which was a 94 Subaru WRX. I loved that thing and I got it for $4000 at the time but man did it eat up gas and parts weren't exactly cheap either. When I got back to the states I really wanted another WRX but decided it wasn't worth it and I'm glad

I'll have to become more familiar with a 401K. I've been working at this employer for roughly seven months so that's about as much as I've saved for retirement. By next month I should be pretty good emergency fund wise so I plan on saving plenty for retirement.

I think I have 7 cards of which I only use maybe one or two at the most. Some of them where just old cards that I never closed out. In fact one was recently closed after no activity for seven years. It was a "Military Star" credit card. I've recently started using one card to pay my bills as it makes it easier to just

Yep. Debt is draining emotionally and financially. I've had $16k in debt before and while it's not as massive as others have it's just a pain wondering if you'll be able to pay off the debt. It makes decisions that much harder. Now I'm debt free, no house payment no car payment. I have to shake my head when people

Agreed. I had a relatively cheap car that cost around $12k and I really wish I would've just bought it cash. Took me three years to pay it off and man it was such a huge relief. Being able to save that $300 a month with no debt is way nicer than having the newest model car.
