“The union’s going to win”

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you!

No way.  In fact I’d be inclined to tell them to take it off and then hand the employee the amount in cash.

Or, refuse to pay the surcharge and increase the tip 3%. Wait, what was the goal again?

Run Stone Cold Steve Austin, you cowards

Nah. That takes the money away directly from the employee. Instead demand to see the manager and have him personally take off the 3% and tell him to instead take it from his profit margins.

Yes! Always good to screw labor, to management’s benefit!

I don’t know, this just seems silly to me. I read how the one owner opted for this over just raising prices, but as a consumer I would rather they just raise the price. Better for the company? What are you talking about, I just want to pay off my English degree that I’m kind of using.” - Splinter staff

What incentive would Buzzfeed possibly have for unionizing their struggling business? How would this make things better for the company? Unless they answer this question, unions will continue to slide into extinction outside of the public sector.

As a general rule, I support labor in all disputes with management. However, these folks are going to have a really difficult time pulling this off. It’s tough being up against the reality that literally no one cares about Buzzfeed writers, and that every day more millennial bloggers enter the “work” force poised to

Who’s the chud that couldn’t even be bothered to look up from their laptop during a STAGED PHOTOGRAPH.

What does the Buzzfeed CEO and executive team have to do all day?
