The ethical problems are there, but unless the gaming community manages to start policing itself, it’s going to happen. The competitive advantage for any company implementing it is too good.

This analysis is good, but misses the real problem: The red aggro decks are able to run recurring and hard to remove threats like Rekindling Phoenix, Hazoret, and Scrapheap Scrounger. Most of the time red aggro decks sacrifice endurance for their hyper aggressiveness, however right now these decks are both hyper…
It can be automated thanks to advanced in speech processessing due to products like Alexa and Google Home. It’s not deployed yet because it’s still on the relatively expensive side but give it a few years.
It’s the only solution to the paradox of tolerance.
This is true, I worked on GDPR compliance for a rather large ad tracking company.
Unkoe has been on the team since at least stage three. So no, his addition is not the biggest change this stage. The biggest addition is that they’re playing with an actual coach.
The real question is: Will you still get hearing damage if you want to hear footsteps?
It’s fun, just stay out of the competitive mode because it’s a toxic dumpster fire.
The problem is, countering Brigitte requires high amounts of coordination. This is possible in OWL, it is not possible on the ladder which is why you play Brigitte, Zenyatta, Zarya, Reinhart, Mercy, and Hanzo or you lose. Granted, Hanzo is probably part of the problem here, but it doesn’t change how effective Brigitte…
I think the transparency in this case is more or less just the broad strokes like X is in production and Y director is attached to it. We’re not talking about individual gameplay details or anything, which can blowback on the developer especially if they announce stuff then have to cut back due to the reality of…
Professional cosplay might be a better way of putting it. I find the term cosplay implies “amateur,” so when Kotaku calls Henchmen Studios work cosplay, it’s like saying that the Toronto Maple Leafs play in the Ontario Hockey League, except they’re actually an NHL team. Henchmen Studios has access to materials,…
While this is amazing, I have mixed feelings about calling this cosplay. It’s more professional prop making. The real question is: Why isn’t Henchmen Studios making props for Toronto’s film industry?
Theyare professional costume makers hired by Blizzard. Not only did they probably get early access, it’s a team of 5+ peoplmaking it.
I really can’t wait for the GDC talk where Tabata goes over how the hell he saved FFXV. There’s a ton of project management lessons there.
Seems like he’s suffering from culture shock. When I did international internships I had to attend several presentations on how to deal with it before leaving. It’s not the most fun thing to go through, especially with the added pressure of being on a pro sports team :(
This seems solvable on Epic’s end, simply block the ability to log in to Fortnite mobile during school hours when a person is playing within X feet of a school. Sure, you can spoof your GPS location, but I imagine this will greatly cut down on issues teachers are having.
You missed two big ones:
I’m surprised it’s going to be WWII based. I figure they would go back to modern so that they could reuse a bunch of Battlefield 4 assets in order to push out a Battlefield with a battle royale mode to compete with PUBG. It’s not like Battlefield 4 would require much modification to make it work.
Naw, what really changed, and unfortunately what the article missed, is that the computing power needed for gaming has plateaued. This means that a company can buy the computer hardware for their cafe and expect it to be good for another 3-4 years for most games.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention GameWorks at all, because they’ve installed these in their remaining stores to great success. Bonus: They have full serve food and bar. I go to the Seattle one far too often.
