A couple comments on your comment: I quite enjoyed The Loneliest Planet, but your observation that Force Majuere tackled the same theme in a much stronger way is SPOT ON. Couldn’t agree more.

Quite possibly my #1.  Just a perfect film.

I was wildly disappointed by Lady Bird.  Saw it a few months after the hype machine had hyped the shit out of it.  It’s just ... ok.

Oh may I offer a counterpoint?  Everybody Wants Some was pure garbage!  Man, it just wasn’t funny.  At all.

I felt like The Social Network was a thing maybe worse than garbage ... it was just kinda meh.  I also love Fincher.  But that movie ... I don’t know.  Not so great?  It was FINE

Extremely overrated” Fury Road?

I’m commenting here 3 years later to say you are spot on. This movie is great, and it is SURELY not a comedy. I watched it on MUBI, and they too incomprehensibly refer to it as a “riotous comedy.” WHAT?! It’s a drama with a few chuckles sprinkled in. And also, it’s great.

Aaron - thank you for the fantastic piece!

that video is fucking JOYOUS!

I love everything about Judge Gen.  Maya Rudolph is so great

Jeremy Bearimy.  Duh

Counterpoint - I freaking love Brent. Ben Koldyke is killing it.

I’ve gone back and listened to “So Appalled,” “Devil in a New Dress,” and “Blame Game,” and ... yup ... still great.  I had forgotten just how great they are, so thanks for the reminder!

Every guest lyric on this album is perfect. Nicki, Pusha, Rick Ross, CyHi, etc.

Seemed more like the stomach, no?  But in all events, not the back!

Precisely my reaction.  The Shining is one of my all time favorite films.  I liked but didn’t love the novel, and had no interest in reading a sequel to that novel (I like King, don’t get me wrong, but nothing in The Shining book begged for a sequel).  ANYWAY, I had NO idea that the book is about a “cabal of psychic

Love this. Had a similar experience while working at a dump of a movie theater my first year of college. I had a ton of experience as a projectionist but this place already had a projectionist so the stoner manager hired me exclusively as an usher. I literally did nothing for 4-6 hours at a time. Nothing. He would

That article is fantastic for the simple fact that the moderator had to close the comments when folks kept posting all kinds of goofy New Age-y quotes and links to all sorts of kooky youtube vids.

Everyone is right about Season 2.  I’m being too hard on it ... definitely has its moments early on, and the last episode is fantastic. But that middle stretch ... hoo boy.

S3 IS the greatest piece of TV ever made
