Sometimes the show hammers you over the head with their “riff” on a classic 80s scene, but other times they nail it with a subtle homage. The Elm Street house was perfect, as well as the fact that the scene with El and Max at the doorway managed to feel like the doorway scene in the original Halloween.  It just nailed

I should have read down further.  Made the exact same point and also used the phrase “ham-fisted”!

The reference isn’t shoved in your face?!  My problem with everything I’ve seen in the first three episodes of this season is that EVERY reference point is shoved right smack in your face.  These aren’t subtle homages to things we knew from the 80s.  This is ham-fisted “remember this?!” [elbow elbow wink wink]

I think you know

What about 32oz?

He still cared for her but he recognized he wanted something else in a partner. Did anybody read this in a totally different way?”

GREAT piece! Also one of my favorite films. I saw it first while studying film in college back in the early 90s and was FLOORED by how progressive it is. Monroe is pitch perfect, and is so damn smart and so damn funny.

Is THAT what he’s doing?!  I honestly couldn’t figure it out.  WHOO boy.  That’s an interesting choice ...

Question from a practicing attorney: why would Molly need Docusign when she’s clearly a litigator? It’s rhetorical.  She wouldn’t. She doesn’t.  Only a transactional attorney would need it.

I find it to be profoundly scary, and I’m 45 years old!  But, like  you, I can’t get enough of it.

I came here to say Elizabeth Banks is weirdly BAD on Press Your Luck. What is that all about? I love her, and I am interested in seeing this movie. But my goodness there is something so ... not good about her game show hosting chops.

Issa’s “yes ... no ... it’s unclear” followed by “bitch what’s that mean?!” had me laughing so hard that I totally missed the magic eight ball line altogether.  So, so good.

I’m here two years later to give you a star.  I mean, seriously, what the fuck?  Do fans understand how “acting” works?  The fact that they hate this character is reflective of PRECISELY how freaking awesome Dominique Perry is at her job.

So I guess us Floridians can never walk our dogs?

This was my read as well, particularly in the second half of today’s match. I did not see many good through balls.

Gold & Grey is Baroness’ best album.  There, I said it.  I love every second of it.

FUCK yes.  Gold & Grey is the AOTY, period.  FIGHT ME

I agree with you, but Fuchs is so fucking gross and unlikable on the show ... and that’s because Stephen Root is SO GOOD.

PEN15!!! My absolute favorite show of the year. In virtually anyone else’s hands, the central conceit (adults playing middle school versions of themselves) becomes the one-note joke. But the brilliance of this show is Erskine and Konkle never really make that the joke at all. And they pull it off with such unwavering

I think Heritage Measles is equally great.
