what is happening in Charlotte?!
The absence of Gucci Mane on the AV Club list is surprising. Man, that’s a good one. Also, I’ve listened to Daytona about 300 times so far this year.
Airbags are a tricky thing. They come out with such violence that it’s hard to predict what you’ll do until you’re in the situation, regardless of where your hands are located. I got into an accident going about 40 mph and my airbag came out. I don’t know where my hands WERE on the wheel, but I do know where my arm…
yes, this! The system, and it’s fundamental flaws, is the product of all of the ridiculous bureaucracy. I think this show, in its weird little wonderful way, advocates for spiritual faith - because the alternative is a mess. There’s no “system” that could possibly work.
Come on, dude. It’s Jeremy Bearimy. Duh.
That moment was so powerful, and it was so powerful because it was so earned. Earned through the flawless writing of these characters, and the flawless performances of these actors.
Oh man that Skeletonwitch album certainly does slay. I’ve listened to it far more than any other album period, this year. It’s not just 2018 good. It’s, to me, one of the best metal albums in the past 5 years level of goodness.
“Like a Márquez story printed in a Pottery Barn catalog.”
Terrific analysis, Nick. I loved this episode. Katherine Hahn and Annet Mahendru were excellent. Hahn is SO often stuck with the comedic sidekick role, but she has far more range.
“our bad, guys”
Kemba Walker is truly playing out of his mind. On a related note, what the hell is WRONG with the Celtics?!
I wish I had more stars to give you. Alas, all I have is one.
To the Sixers’ credit (credit?), they’ve given Fultz ample opportunity to prove himself this season. Before the Butler trade he was starting, and he was getting about 25 minutes or so per game. That’s a ton of minutes for a dude who inexplicably forgot how to play basketball.
If you’ve watched the film, you’ll notice that this first vignette is inexplicably blown the fuck out. Tim Blake Nelson looks like this throughout the entire segment. It is an odd choice. Maybe it is done on purpose, to make it look artificial ... like an old, inconsequential singing-cowboy Western.
hahaha. I’ll allow it
This is amazing! Thanks for doing this. The whole series had such a Hitchcock feel that I had convinced myself that I was hearing some Hitchcock scores. But nope. Interesting. I’m blown away that a lot of the music is pulled from very early 80s classic suspense films. Also, Halloween III!!
deserves more stars. i wish i had more for you
We have a 4 month old baby at home, and this is hitting me right in the feels. I’m not even crying. You are!
This episode ... hoo boy. Nick, you do a nice job of unpacking it. The shortcomings, in my mind, are egregious. Abel uncovers something awful and ... they are going to sit on it?
Yeah, I might go as far to say that it was NOT a bad drop. Evans, standing wide open in the end zone, probably didn’t expect his QB to throw a ball that was not only behind him but also at his toes.
