“Yes, but that isn’t what I was suggesting. I want the leader vehicle to be human controlled, thereby taking much of the complexity of the system away.”

“especially when the only thing it will take to stop a convoy like this is parking a car in the middle of the road and then stealing everything in the convoy.”
Sort of. From a sensors perspective all the vehicles are identical. It’s the BWASK system and autonomy kit (that’s what costs 175k on each vehicle). That’s been proven out for quite some time now (there’s good slide deck here). The system is capable of follow the leader, way-point navigation, and remote operation.
It’s a lot easier to provide CAS to a convoy when you don’t have to worry about friendly fire.
“I think it would be cheaper, easier and more reliable to just have a guy driving the lead vehicle and have all the others follow it autonomously convoy style.”
Program office.
To be clear. It was civil service. Never wore the uniform I’m afraid. So can’t claim to have ever been one of the elite sewer pipe sailors.
As would we lol. But I’d prefer your continent fix its economic woes before attempting sustained security self reliance.
I can tell if you’re sneaky being funny by insinuating that the Russian subs can’t leave dock...
Relax, it was a joke.
What exactly is the rest of NATO’s undersea Navy doing exactly? Tracking whales?
It was NATO’s purpose is after all. We’re all here to keep Vlad in check.
You left out the US (and the rest of NATO). COMSUBLANT has a few attack subs in his arsenal.
It’s a joke, butkus. Relax.
“Unless the US has a sub in the area, I wouldn’t bank on any European sub doing the job.”
When they claim increased Russian sub activity in the North Atlantic I’m assuming these subs are being tracked by other subs. I mean there aren’t that many of them. I’m sure NATO can muster one or two attack subs to tail each of them.
Did you research Emily Bazelon’s claim that chorination doesn’t kill E. Coli? Because the CDC seems to disagree. E. Coli is HIGHLY susceptible to CL2.
It’s not about sexism or feminism. It’s just a more complex issue than “BAM add a female checkbox to the Selective Service form. We’re not drafting right now anyways.” It becomes complex and contentious when the draft is in place. Spaghetti Monster forbid, the draft is reinstated and women are a part of it. Draft…
This is an issue of national security. Afghanistan, Egypt, Mexico, and Germany all have smarter national birds than we do. Fuck!
Bring on the Secret Service Bald Eagles!
