Good luck trying to spot a drone with a drone. These raptors have the kind of eyesight you see on a MQ-4C Triton. You can’t squeeze that into a small drone. Not to mention the detection challenge.

Most military surplus is a great deal. You can get some great deals on gently used vehicles (generators, 1-ton trucks, trailers, etc.). My understanding is that it was sold with engines and drives, but they need major overhaul. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spent the cost of the ship itself on refit.
