Your logic assumes there are no guns in the country after said law is passed. There’s over 300 million firearms on the streets today. Guns aren’t perishable, you can maintain them nearly indefinitely.

Not only is the number of firearms in this country extremely high, but every time an attempt is made to limit their distribution sales sky rocket. Same goes for ammo. Gun control advocates would be wise to wait until they can be sure that a bill can pass before making another attempt.
