Turkey doesn’t have to start anything. Ball’s in Russia’s court at the moment. Hell Turkey could peacefully close the straits to the Russians for a couple weeks under Section II Article 21 of the Montreux Convention.

“Also, plenty of journalists stand up to people far more powerful than Bill Fucking Belichick and don’t lose their jobs.”

These teams will not operate in country without air support (beyond the 160th).

“At the least, this has been a campaign to buy time until the next election to where it’s somebody else’s problem”

The guy only acts like that with the media. Players and staff all, for the most part, think extremely high of him. There’s a reason so many Pats players and coaches current and past speak the way they do about him.

“You’d rather have a PR flack spinning stories than the actual coach of the team, or the quarterback, giving you the inside scoop?”

“precisely the Act of War provocation that Russia has been waiting for.”

“Turkey is playing an incredibly reckless game here.”

It would only push Turkey closer to NATO and Gulf State Nations. NATO can’t provide NG, but they can certainly provide Nuke power which Turkey is currently coordinating with Russia. Pain would certainly be felt, but I could see Turkey winning that game of chicken.

It would take the presence of a SINGLE mine to stop ALL traffic through the strait. The beauty of the mine is that you only need to see one to have your adversary fear the existence of tons of them. At that point they would have to sweep the entire channel.

“I’m sure it’s a cold war relic, but as a layperson, I thought they were a member to keep them out of the Warsaw pact and to keep missles close to Russia.”

“banging at his door making him and offer he can’t refuse.”

Someone Who Thinks Winning in Professional Sport is Somehow Less Important Than Treating the Media Nicely

I’d be willing to bet life-savings that he will NEVER get into color commentary or similar media work. He’s already mentioned several times, it’ll be coaching lacrosse or fishing on his boat.

The guy was a dick to media long before any accomplishments. The guy’s honestly really great with anyone OTHER than the media. Especially with his players, staff, and friends. There’s a reason his players and staff are notoriously loyal and respectful (even AFTER leaving the organization).

“Is there a reason a journalist can’t or hasn’t stood up to him?”

“This guy just always seems to hate life.”

“If he doesn’t like being treated with suspicion, by his own hometown press who are all total homers, no less, he should try being less fucking sketchy.”

It’s because of their control of the Bosphorus that they’ll never be kicked out of NATO. They are essentially a trip-wire for Russian aggression. Concede that and you have Ukraine.
