Project Manager and BI Analyst here. I actually run my own company doing the stuff.

Yep, thats why we are driving around in 300+ mile range EV’s enjoying Autopilot.  That damn Elon, never delivering on his promises.

The current publicly available implementation of Navigate on Autopilot is safe, in some cases safe to a fault. In the highest traffic situations, which require human drivers to “Create” an opening to change lanes. There may be a slow to accelerate semi to your left and if you time it just right you can squeeze

If I hadn’t been in a cab in NYC last week, I would think Elon was being a complete moron. But every single movement of that cab had a significant chance of a fender bender. Even stopping was a non-zero chance of a fender bender. I would watch pedestrians just start walking right at the side of a vehicle figuring the

The specific use case for the aggressiveness that was being described was traffic situations where timid does not work, because you can’t get your lane change, and instead get hung out to dry in the wrong lane (because of an insufficient gap being allowed by human drivers), and miss your exit.

Yeah remember that chart. No one ever bothers to check if they go anything right and I’m glad you did.

But as you point out, automated cars will have far faster reaction times than even the best human, and thus won’t NEED to be nearly as good at prediction. An AI may not *need* to avoid the wind gust, as it may be able to react fast enough to simply handle the changing forces as they affect the vehicle.

The problem with Navigant Research is their methodology is highly flawed. I remember back in the day when they did one for batteries.

Another poor clueless article with an inaccurate narrative.

When merging in Los Angeles traffic, if you don’t assert yourself you’ll often times have to stop or be thrust into a guard rail. Until all cars are communicating with each other and autonomous a more aggressive driving style is the only way to survive in a lot of situations.

I am not a big fan of Tesla, but I dont see what the deal is. He is saying the car will offer more aggressive modes, which are probably on par with how most people drive in these areas anyways.   I think you just like getting angry at Elon because he makes it easy to write article and then you don’t have to work as

IMO, Aaaron should listen to that conversation again - in some environments certain maneuvers are very hard to execute without a very assertive driving behavior and owners will have an option to take a level of risk that they are already taking when driving themselves - cars default will still be “timid” behavior. It

I thought making EVs is easy.

Nonsense, they were holding back european and chinese sales due to full tax credit expiring in US. So now they focus on Europe and China.

Nah... the real reason for the drop in US sales is the US/Canada sales backlog is mostly cleared and now they’re redirecting a big part of their production to satisfying demand for Europe and China.

Neutral: The question is silly, Tesla is sending cars to Europe and China, which is impacting deliveries in the US.

Fisker’s sort of an Elon Musk type, but with a bit more cred.”

1st gear: Tesla was in a huge push in Q4 2018 to rush and get as many cars into customer hands so they could meet the tax credit deadline.

It is crazy that people think demand is falling for Tesla. Think about how many cars they have sold and how many commercials have you seen or heard? They are not even at a point where they need to advertise yet. They are still selling record amounts of cars with word of mouth advertising. There are many, many things

Exactly.
