EPA rating is 299 miles, not 310. The math should be corrected to 78%.

Actually, the EPA rating for a Model 3 Performance is 299 miles... so the results here are 78% of the EPA rating, or basically the same as the Polestar 2 with track package.

New Leaf e+ is a complete fail with the lack of liquid thermal management of the battery pack. There should be massive consumer warnings on any Leaf sold due to battery pack degradation. Theirs has been the worst.

Felton seems butt hurt over Tesla’s success.

The Taycan competes against the Tesla Model 3, not the Model S. The Taycan is wide, but is only a 4 seater. The base specs likely rival the Tesla Model 3 LR-AWD, or 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds. But it won’t match the 310 miles of EPA range nor the price point of $55,000. The base Taycan’s range might be well under 200

Reports so far are guessing that the base Taycan has 400 hp, not 600+. And the top end 0-60 is probably sandbagged a bit. So I am guessing the base Taycan has maybe 185 miles of range with 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and 150 kW charging. It is probably very easy to option it up to $100k. A mid-range Taycan is likely

You mean Navigant. One analyst. And his methodology? He believes the bigger businesses have a higher chance of pulling it off. That’s it.

I am surprised you are even on the Internet. Isn’t there a BBS you should be dialing into?

$1.5 billion is very small considering how long it has been. GM was actually ahead of Tesla in this tax credit until 2018 when Tesla passed them. Tesla passed Nissan earlier.

If Tesla ships some standard range variants in Q4, then some people get the full $7,500 tax credit on those. Then, the tax credit halves... which means the difference is $3,750. That makes the base Model 3 a $32,250 car before state incentives for 6 months. Then it’s $1,875 tax credit for another 6 months. So pretty

Two interesting points:

With problems assembling packs at the Gigafactory, it didn’t make sense to run the Model 3 production line in Fremont 24/7. They are installing upgrades to the battery pack production line at the Gigafactory which means it is time to ramp up the Model 3 production in Fremont.

You cite form follows function, but I doubt you actually thought this through. Gauges are normally placed where you have a small window to see them through the upper part of the steering wheel. There are times when that viewport is blocked and you can’t see them at all. The Model 3's critical information is never

Yup.. they are picking and choosing winners and losers. Commercial real estate is a winner... no surprise.

Wow, that’s very regressive. Stick it to the poor!

Chances are, if you can afford to buy a new car, you can get this tax credit. Also, if you lease, then the leasing company gets this tax credit and you can negotiate to get a pass through on it. Therefore, the tax credit is still available if you lease.

Who do you think can afford a new car? Then who can afford EVs? The point is to help fledging technology adoption.

No, the average price of a new sedan is under $25k. New EVs still cost more than that and right now, the costs are just coming down to the point where, with the tax credit, the prices of EVs are near that $25k.

But it is ok that multi-billion dollar businesses get multi-billion dollar subsidies, right?
