I think Tesla did a remarkable job of going from 0 to 400,000 sales in a short time. In an industry they had no experience in.
This is the Big Problem for Tesla: There is ultimately nothing they do that cannot be done better for less money (i.e., more efficiently) by other car companies. And sooner, rather than later
Sure, but so far, no other car company *has* done what Tesla’s done for less money. The competition is definitely looming, but Tesla isn’t exactly sitting on their hands either...
>> by doing the opposite of what Elon Musk has been doing with Tesla, building its business quietly and not with a whole lot of fanfares
That’s the only price they show. The $45,000 price is no more realistic than the $35,000 model 3 price is. When you can order it, i’ll believe it.
“One huge advantage that Tesla has, for now, is its Supercharger network of fast-charging stations,”
I don’t know where the $45,000 version is, but the website shows a starting price of $63,000. Maybe Tesla shouldn’t be that worried.
Maybe, just maybe, if they took the crap off the rear deck they could see where there were backing. Crazy concept, I know.
Didnt realize SUVs were putting a dent in Camrys. Figured it was always parking barriers and such.
Sounds like a coordinated effort to stop the stock from continuing to rise.(considering the timing)
“given that Model S sales are famously saturated.”
Just couldn’t resist phrasing the title as a knock on Tesla could you? This website I swear
That was the plan, but by the time they were through, they realized that it would have been easier to design things from the ground up than to take the approach they took.
Actually they share less than 7% of parts.
I guess there’s a difference between being skeptical and saying it’s not possible. A chevy Camaro ZL1 curb weight is 4000 pounds and that thing’s a track monster. The good thing is most of the model 3's weight is at the lowest point of the car, spread evenly across the bottom as opposed to being placed awkwardly above…
You’re not getting it. If Mazda makes an awesome electric car, it’s because Tesla made it viable to do so. And so much butthurt over the Chevy Bolt. We get it, it exists. If it’s a marvel then the model 3 is a revelation. Even in Munro’s hit piece article he remarked how the circuit boards in the model 3 were the same…
Stupid workplace accidents happen everywhere.

Correct on the forklift. I have been in many plants/shop floors where there is signage demanding that forklifts be treated with respect. One read (paraphrasing as it was a few years ago) “do not fuck around on the forklift or I will fire you.”
