It’s an inverse hierarchy; she reports to the Junior Vice-Chancellor, who reports to the Junior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and so on. The actual head of Oxford all the way at the top of that reporting hierarchy is the Third Assistant Deputy Groundskeeper.

ONLY 785 YEARS GUYS

I read about half of Kipnis’ original article that sparked this whole mess. Seems like she’s just saying that protecting students and victims is all good but maybe we’ve gone too far with some of these new rules, i.e., students cannot date professors b/c students are frail little beings and professors will take

“symbolically incoherent” is a phrase that a lot of college students need to have in their head when they plan their activism, just saying.

What bums me out most about this is that the question of consent laws, “spheres of victimhood” and the worry about infantilization is SUCH an important and interesting one (and

I'm really picky about lotion - I hate anything that feels remotely greasy - but I adore plain old Fragrance Free Lubriderm. Good for cracked hands and new tattoos!

That was only for the Harry Potter series, plus Fantastic Beasts will be taking place in New York.

Did you watch that first episode? I’ll be honest, I started it largely because I watched McCurdy on iCarly (shut up, I know I’m an adult but it was adorable), and I wanted to see how she’d do in an adult-ish show.

Did you see Totes McGoats? I want him so bad, and I usually shy away from taxidermied anything. (Those Victorian mouse/squirrel scenes are way too creepy for me.)

It blows my mind that anyone can compare the two. A seven year old is not thinking about their body or anyone else’s in a sexual way. BUT HAS ANYONE EVER MET A 14 YEAR OLD BOY??

yes I remember this. it really shocked me that so many of the jez readers could be so incredibly unaware of how sexuality works.

Spot on! However I think the problem goes beyond conservatives vs. liberals and has a lot to do with puritanical and hysterical attitudes towards sex and the human body, period. I remember reading the comments section on Jez and a lot of liberals on Jezebel were calling Lena Dunham a paedophile too, and are incapable

The difference? They really don’t understand sexuality. Obviously. Or they couldn’t possibly question/compare the molestation of underage girls with the perfectly natural curiosity of a child.

I. LOVE. THAT. BOOK.

Hot take : Write your goddamn memoir, get your bloody advance. If you’re sick of other people’s memoirs, don’t read them! Pick out something you like and read that instead, instead of complaining about how people shouldn’t write memoirs. If somebody paid me to write a memoir, I’d go for it, even knowing that it’s

“Hitler had pieces of flair. He made the jews wear them.”

How many memoirs are really that good? When’s the last time you a) actually finished reading an entire memoir and b) felt fully satisfied—that it was time well spent? Just write a pilot that’s canceled after two seasons and call it a day.

Yeah, fair enough but I have found some real satisfaction with at least a few of the memoirs recently. Reading Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling’s stories was inspiring and helpful. Both as a lady and as someone who’s trying to make it in the world they’re a part of. I honestly did not feel like they were vanity projects.

See....I love memoirs. I love biographies. I love non-fiction. I’m a non-fiction junkie. I fucking love anecdotes and real stories from interesting* people. So the memoir boom is like my literary wet-dream.

I just finished reading my first David Sedaris and I’m in love.

(*key word)

I talk a lot and WAS good at math, but it’s been a long time since I did any math exercises so I probably forgot 80% of it. Does that count as being cool?

Amy Schumer is a goddamn treasure. What a perfect take down.
