No problem! I still find it hard to believe and I've lived here nearly all my life.

I thought abortion was legal in Romania!

I know it sounds extreme, but about 3000+ women a year fly to the UK from Ireland for abortion, regardless of the reason for their pregnancy. It's not reasonable, but it's what people have to do.

Thanks for reporting on this, Erin. I feel like international pressure is the only thing that might push our archaic abortion laws further.

I don't know if you meant to make another point about Ireland's abortion laws there, but you actually did - foetuses with fatal abnormalities, such as anencephaly (undeveloped brain) aren't allowed to be aborted here. Which means, literally, neural development isn't necessary under Irish law.

Ugh. They had a bishop on one of the major news stations giving his tuppence worth about it today. In 2014. I don't understand this country.

It seems she wasn't properly informed about the laws here - if she had been, I'm sure she would have gone to England if at all possible. God knows that's what most Irish women do if they need an abortion.

In relation to your last paragraph - abortion access in Ireland doesn't have any kind of exemptions for rape. (Or even for fatal foetal abnormalities. No, I'm not joking.)

You watch all my shows! Try Suits :-)

Nothing will come close to Oberyn getting his eyes gouged out, for me. I had my eyes shut for the rest of the scene, I don't even know how much worse the gore got.

Fassbender though

I do not understand why kinja doesn't have a report button. Literally every other commenting platform in the world has one.

Not the original poster, but mice are often used for this type of thing for a bunch of reasons - they're extremely well-studied, we know their genetic information really well, they're easy to keep and breed in a lab, with short times between generations, and they're the most similar animal to humans that fit all the

Oops, thought he won supporting actor for Moneyball for some reason!

I can't speak for all Catholics, but support for Israel in Ireland is (and has always been afaik) extremely low.

Nah. Jonah Hill has won more Oscars than Gary Oldman or Harrison Ford. We really need a new metric by which to judge films. (All I ever look at is the rotten tomatoes rating tbh.)

That is awesome. My grandma has outlived at least one priest who gave her her last rites. I'm pretty sure it's the brandy.

It's a 2-part miniseries, not a movie, but the end of Birdsong (it was on the BBC) makes me cry like a baby every time. I used to have the second part on my DVR and when I wanted a good cry I'd just watch the last 20 minutes. It is a pretty happy ending though! (Sort of.)

I hear Gimme Brow by Benefit is really good for sparse brows, there's loads of reviews online for it too.
