What an odd accusation to raise against Michael Chabon. I’d wager he’s read more and better books than you have.
I’m surprised neither Zack nor anyone else seems to have landed on this idea. As soon as Clancy seemed to acquiesce to Picard, and Picard got so naively happy it seemed like a gimme that anyone being sent to DS12 was there to arrest the Motley Crew or blow them from the sky.
“It turns out that the Zhat Vash stumbled on the complete Battlestar Galactica box set.”
Enjoy.
Marvel apparently wrangled the rights specifically to enable reprinting those crossovers in Marvel Masterworks form, so they ought to be available at some point as individual issues.
Sue isn’t fridged by rape, she’s fridged by Jean Loring (wife of Ray Palmer) using Ray’s tech and stomping around in Sue’s brain. The rape was unrelated to the murder, but served to set up another plot line about Zatanna fucking with the minds of villains and heroes alike.
Just an editorial note — you have Byron as “Bryon” in the majority of the article. I suspect Dalek Autocorrupt at work.
I give the episode points for rapping the knuckles of several shibboleths, and even doing it with a little subtlety at times, but the episode was not good — I know they were aiming to play Jurati as the fish out of water there, but the dialogue was *terrible* and the actors struggled to no avail with it. Elrond, er,…
The swearing in Discovery actually worked for me because Cadet Merida babbling, “This is So fucking cool!” obviously catches everybody off-guard, which is funny as hell, until Stamets says “You know what, Tilly, this *is* fucking cool.”
It was an impact line, and it works perfectly — Picard is shocked, the audience is shocked.
There’s prequel material that establishes how Laris and Zhaban came to be with Picard.
That Romulan Irish accent just sticks, man.
They need room for the Elf!
Apparently Number One was supposed to show up more, but the dig was one of Patrick Stewart’s rescue pitties and not up to the stress of being a thespian. Pity, really. Having Number One chomp a Zhat Vash would have been fun.
One shows up in the third episode — in two forms: EMH, and an engineer. Both in the same template, but the Doctor has an English accent while the engineer has an Irish accent. So...I guess the holograms aren’t banned.
Discovery got there first with “It’s so fucking cool!” from Cadet Tilly.
I am *so* stealing “grimderp.”
I don’t think even Nechayev could have roasted Picard’s balls as fiercely as Casey. Damn, that was harsh.
It would be nice if all the extra stuff being piled into Plex didn’t so regularly break its primary functions. I use it as a server mainly for music, and spent a lot of time doing CD rips (in addition to a lot of FLAC purchases) and half the damn time it’s offline for one reason or another, or can’t make a secure…
